Yu will wrk n varius mdules in the LearnSmart platfrm taking advantage f a new adaptive learning technlgy designed t help yu prgress thrugh the materials based n yur individual needs. This curse has tw tracks: Track 1, pre-math117, Track 2, pre-math142, depending n yur majr. If yu d nt currently have a majr, yu are in Track 1 by default. Students in Track 1 must cmplete 8 mdules. Hw t Succeed in this Curse Unlike ther curses yu may have taken, the Adaptive Technlgy curses may require a different study prcess than the ne yu are used t. Check yur ASU regularly. Lg in t the curse site every day. Try set aside time t wrk n math every day. Dn t wait try t cram it all in at the last minute. STAY ON TRACK!!! When yu listen t the lectures, treat them like yu wuld any classrm lecture. That is, keep a ntebk take ntes as yu listen. Pause rewind the lessns as needed. Review them as many times as yu need t. Pause the lectures try wrk ut the prblems n yur wn. Then start the lecture again t see hw yu did. Wrk ut all the prblems in yur ntebk in an rganized fashin. If yu slved them incrrectly, make sure yu g back crrect yur wrk. If yu get stuck n a tpic, ask yur instructr fr help!! Take yur ntebk t class as well. It will be hy fr prblem slving. Curse Materials & Structure Materials All yur learning materials are fund n yur curse site. Each mdule cntains multiple lessns Each lessn has 3 cmpnents TUNE IN This is the diagnstic part f the lessn. Here we determine what yu knw dn t knw. Dn t wrry if yu can t answer the questins. The system will use yur respnses t select learning materials tailred t yur needs. FOCUS this is the instructinal part f the lessn. Yur lessns will be based n the Tunein results. PRACTICE this is the assessment part f the lessn. If yu knw the material, yu will prgress quickly. If yu dn t, yu will be prvided with mre learning materials t help yu succeed. 4 Final Exam: Once yu have cmpleted all the mdules, yu will be able t take the final exam. Yu must schedule yur unit exam using Tutr Track t take yur final in a prctred envirnment (It s required yu bring headphnes fr the exam. Yu must take the exam n later than December 5, 2014 (the last day f classes). Yu will have a maximum f three attempts t pass the final, a practice exam as well as practice prblems are available t help yu prepare fr the exam. If yu stay n track, yu shuld have n truble meeting the deadline. If yu take the exam using yur laptp, yu will need LckdwnBrwser installed befre yu take the exam. Grading Plicy Studying, Preparatin utside f class time. This is a hybrid curse therefre the majrity f yur wrk will be taken nline utside f the classrm. Yu will be expected t spend a minimum f 6 hurs per week utside f class. All assignments curse interactins will utilize web-based technlgies. Grade Assignment If this is yur first time taking MAT 110, then the curse is graded pass/cntinuatin (Y/Z). There is n letter grade assciated with this curse. If yu fail t cmplete all f yur wrk by the last day f class r d nt pass the final exam, yu will be given the Z (cntinuatin) grade, meaning that yu will need t retake the curse the fllwing semester, repay the curse fee, start frm the beginning. If this is yur secnd time taking the curse (meaning yu received the Z the previus attempt), then the curse is graded pass/fail (Y/E). If yu fail t cmplete all f yur wrk by the last day f class r d nt pass the final exam, yu will be given the E grade. There is n third attempt.
