1 Brazsprt Cllege Syllabus fr DFTG 1317 Architectural- Residential Drafting Instructr: Ricard Uribe Jr. Office Phne: Office: D211.B Curse Descriptin: Architectural drafting prcedures, practices, and symbls including the preparatin f detailed wrking drawings fr residential structure with emphasis n light frame cnstructins methds. Prerequisite: DFTG 1305 r apprval f the divisin chair. Student Learning Outcmes: Expsure t and acquaintance with the terminlgy and symbls f Architecture and Familiarizatin with materials and design as it relates t Residential prjects. The student will demnstrate the knwledge f hw t prepare detailed wrking drawings fr a residential building, with emphasis n residential cnstructin methds. The student will exhibit a general understanding f architectural terms, symbls, use f residential cnstructin materials and prcesses, and a general knwledge f drawing prductin prcesses. The student will recgnize the relatinship between specificatins and drawings and exhibit a general knwledge f architectural requirements cncerning the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The student will demnstrate the ability t prduce a set f residential cnstructin drawings t include a site plan, flr plans, sectins, elevatins, schedules, and details and fundatin plan. The student will demnstrate knwledge f Architectural drafting Meeting criteria f: Neatness, Accuracy, Prmptness, and Legibility A Three-Part Fundatin Basic Skills: Reads, writes, perfrms arithmetic and mathematical peratins, listens and speaks A. 3 LAB REQUIREMENTS 3 SCH, 2 hurs lecture, 2 hurs lab per week. Lab time is a vital critical thinking cmpnent t this curse. Lecture at the beginning f the class time is intended t review previus material, answer any utstanding questins, and present new cncepts, practices and prcedures. Lecture is als where dem time will be t illustrate step by step prcess. Lab time is where the student is encuraged t apply knwledge learned during lecture. The student is als encuraged t wrk with fellw students t help slve prblems. If the student has researched using the textbk, curse, internet resurces and still needs assistance cncerning prject r class assignments, they are encuraged t address during the next class lecture time. 4 COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND GRADING POLICY Each student will spend at least 4 hurs per week preparing fr class. The student will have an pprtunity t evaluate the instructr. Yu are expected t cmplete all assignments in a timely manner. Student grades will be assigned accrding t the fllwing criteria: PROJECTS 40% UNIT EXAMS 30% FINAL PROJECT 20% PARTICIPATION 10% TESTING There will be tests, exams, quizzes t be cmpleted, and yu will have ample time t prepare fr each f these. Tests, exams r quizzes are expected t be cmpleted n the scheduled day, and yu will receive yur test material back fr future reference MAKE-UP POLICY Late wrk will nt generally be accepted. Make up assignments and make up tests will be accepted n an independent, per student basis as the instructr sees fit. STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES Students are expected t fully participate in this curse.
