1 BOARD REPORT NO C October 13, 2010 HIGHLIGHTS OF CENSUS COMPARISIONS Comparing the Fall 2009 to the Fall 2010 Census, the following changes are noted: District As a Whole (SMCCCD) The overall percentage distribution of student headcount at the three colleges remained relatively stable: 26% Canada, 38% and 36%, but the actual headcount experienced change. The total student headcount in fall 2010 was 27,990. Compared to fall 2009, the total district student headcount decreased by 1,370 students or 4.7%. Compared to fall 2009, the largest decrease by age was seen among students over the age of 40. Students under the age of 18 also decreased by 16.8%. Compared to fall 2009, concurrently enrolled students decreased by 25.9% or 382 students, which effectively eliminated the gain made in fall In addition, there were fewer students (774 or 14.9%) with BA or higher degrees in fall 2010 than in fall This term marked the first time the Multi Race category is reported in comparision with the previous fall. A large number of students (1,135) claimed to be multi race, which was an increase of 130.4%. College College's total student headcount in fall 2010 remained relatively stable at 7,222. Compared to fall 2009, Asian, African American and Hispanic student population increased. Compared to fall 2009, concurrently enrolled students decreased by 85 ( 16.2%). However, Non California Residents increased by 24.6% and fulltime students increased by 4.2%. Almost all ranges of Class Standing increased at College, which is an indication of more students persisting. College of San Mateo 's total student headcount in fall 2010 was 10,588, which represented a decrease of 8.0% or 920 students. Compared to fall 2009, there was a decrease of 612 White students and 180 Hispanice students. Female students decreased by a count of 811 or 13.7%. Compared to fall 2009, concurrently enrolled students decreased by 304 or 45.9%. However, non California Residents increased by 23.3%. Evening students decreased by a count of 562 ( 14.1%) and Day & Evening Students decreased by a count of 312 or 13.2%. College 's total student headcount in fall 2010 was 10,180, which represented a decrease of 4.0% or 424 students. Compared to fall 2009, all ethnic categories experienced decreases except for the Multi Race category. Compared to fall 2009, concurrently enrolled students increased by 2.4%. In addition, there were 118 more full time students. However, Non California Residents increased by 23.3%. Almost all ranges of Class Standing increased at College, which is an indication of more students persisting. Official fall 2010 Census Day was September 7.
