We are looking forward to welcoming our visiting author, Chris Collin, and our families to share our fantastic student writing. The skill of writing is evident throughout our school, as students have created their own published text, taking a lead in the creation, editing and illustration of the book. Throughout Write Wodonga, we see students inspired and motivated by the concept of sharing their writing with others. 2 Decide Wisely in our Playground An important KIND rule for our students is Deciding Wisely. Our teachers and staff actively reinforce our KIND rules in many ways; during class time, through one-on -one conversations, with the Principals and at assemblies etc. It is especially important for students to be thinking of the KIND rules when there is not a teacher or adult present. Unfortunately, a small number of students in our school have not been Deciding Wisely while using our toilets. It is difficult for our school to monitor inappropriate behaviours in the toilets, in order to reduce vandalism and intrusions of privacy. We are seeking parent support, to discuss the issue with your child and to reinforce your expectations around making wise decisions when using the toilets. The school will continue to be active in encouraging positive decision-making to maintain a positive playground climate. Wodonga PS Helping our Community Wodonga PS will be conducting a week-long campaign to support the local organisation Restart Tots to Teens. This organisation supports children and teenagers who are experiencing time in out of home care for a variety of reasons. The local group aims to develop care packages for the children as they move around locations, giving them some much-needed basic clothing items. We will be accepting donations next week of clean clothes that your child may have grown out of, to make up the packages. There will be a special box in the school foyer, and donations can be made at any time during the final week of school (Sept 18-22). Term 4 Water Safety Parents are reminded to complete permission and payments for the Water Safety program prior to the end of this term if their child is to participate as the program is finalised over the September holidays. Term 4 Timetable The feedback to the proposed timetable change was limited - thanks to the three families who shared their thoughts with us around the positives and problems associated with any change. The new timetable will commence in Term 4. Families should note the following: 8.55am - music commences with students expected to head to class prior to the first bell at 9am Fruit snack is eaten during class time: approx 10am Lunch eaten in class: 11.20am Playtime in yard: pm Afternoon snack eaten in class: 1.40pm Playtime in yard: pm canteen will be open for counter sales during this break Student dismissal: 3.15pm Students who catch buses or attend Club 37 should go directly to their allocated location at 3.15pm. Wodonga Schools Art Festival A wonderful opportunity was had for students of Wodonga Primary school last week during the Annual Wodonga Arts Festival. Performing arts were celebrated on stage, while our visual arts were proudly displayed in the foyer of Galvin Hall. Thank you to the organising committee, in particular, Pam Hilditch from Wodonga PS.

3 Funky Chicken opportunity to purchase books Please see the attachment if you would like to pre-order one of Chris Collin s personally autographed books which he will bring to our Write Wodonga evening on September 13. Lost Property Please take time over the following week to check the Lost Property in the Library for jumpers, drink bottles etc. All named items will be returned for teachers to hand back. A gold coin sale of all un-named/unclaimed items will be offered in the final week of term. Any remaining items will then be taken to a local charity. District Athletics Results We had a brilliant day at the District Aths on Friday congratulations to all who participated and in particular to those who had success. We haven t received the official results at the time of publishing, so these are what we know so far..and are unofficial.
