2 Opening up Opportunities for year olds What is the South Bucks Partnership? It s a group of schools that work together to widen the opportunities of all their students at Sixth Form level. 4 When are the lessons? All the SBP schools run similar timetables, with a two-week timetable, and five one-hour lessons per day. All the SBP schools have agreed to use the following lessons for partnership subjects: Period 1 Period 2 Period 3 Period 4 Period 5 Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday A B B A Partnership students therefore have partnership lessons in one of the following two combinations: A Tuesday periods 1-2 and Friday 3-5 B Tuesday 3-5 and Friday 1-2 In even academic years ( , etc) the A slot is AS and the B slot is A2 In odd academic years ( , , etc) the B slot is AS and the A slot is A2 For the academic year : AS is Tuesday morning and Friday afternoon (A) A2 is Tuesday afternoon and Friday morning (B) In this way, if you continue your partnership subject from Year 12 through to Year 13, you will always attend your host school at the same times. But how will I get there and back? Individual schools make their own arrangements for transporting students to and from lessons. Some schools operate a minibus or taxi service, others rely on you to use public transport. In all cases travel costs are the responsibility of the student and your school will discuss arrangements and costs with you on an individual basis. If I have a gap between lessons (like lunch) may I use the facilities of my Host School? Yes! You may use the Library, the canteen, the Sixth Form common room etc. What about uniform? You must show full respect for the dress code of your host school, and dress more smartly than you normally would if necessary. You don t have to purchase the host school s sixth form uniform, nor even a suit if you would not normally wear one in the context of your home school. Please just show respect.

5 Where will I take the exams? You will usually take all your exams in your Home School but some practicals may have to be taken in the Host School. Do I go to the Parents Evening in my Host School for my partnership subject? Yes! You will given the date and an invitation. Will I get a report in my partnership subject? Yes! You will be given the same reports as the other students in your class for that subject. This will reflect the reporting calendar of your Host School, rather than your Home School. I m interested How do I apply? You need to fill in the application form at the back of this booklet. You must hand this in to your Home School. Please do NOT apply directly to the Host School: they will send any applications back. If you meet both the following entry criteria, then you will have successfully embarked on a SPB partnership course. 1. The general Sixth-Form entry requirement of your Home School 2. The subject-specific entry requirement of the Host School Glossary SBP Home School Host School Partnership student South Bucks Partnership The school where the student is based for the majority of his/her Sixth Form education The school to which the student goes to study for one subject The title given to a student who is attending a host school Partnership subjects Subjects that are offered to all students in the SBP schools by host schools
