1 HOLLAND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PARENT/TEACHER ORGANIZATION Welcome to the school year! We look forward to meeting our new Holland Elementary families and seeing our existing families. We hope you will all become a part of the PTO community this year! Please complete and return the enclosed forms to school in the large envelope provided by SEPTEMBER 1 ST. A detailed list of all PTO sponsored events, programs and committees is available on the PTO website at Holland Elementary PTO. These committees are always in need of volunteers. Please know that volunteering does not have to be time consuming. We welcome your support in any way. For new families, we are attaching the list of PTO committees and events. The first PTO meeting of this school year is scheduled for THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 16 th at 7:00 PM. These meetings provide valuable information about the happenings at Holland Elementary, as well as provide an opportunity to meet and connect with other parents in our school community. Paid PTO members who attend these meetings have an opportunity to vote on PTO events and spending. Look for most PTO communication to come home each Wednesday on GOLD paper. Please sign up for the PTO listserv where you will be apprised of PTO matters. Be sure to bookmark the PTO website at (click on the links to Holland Elementary School, then PTO). All PTO forms and other information are regularly posted at this site. All students receive a Communication folder from the PTO. Inside this folder, you will see a school calendar listing PTO and school events as well as a list of all PTO committees and contact information. To help fund the various classroom parties held throughout the year (Halloween, Winter Holiday, Valentine s Day and an End-of-Year celebration), we ask that all parents pay $10.00 (cash only, please) per student at Back To School Night. This should be given to the Homeroom Mom of each class. This donation contributes to the purchase of paper goods, crafts and some snacks for the class parties throughout the year. Thank you for your support! We are looking forward to a great year! The Holland Elementary PTO Executive Board Sharon Millstein, President Carolyn Tantillo, Vice President Trina Labenski, Treasurer Kim O Donnell, Corresponding Secretary June Black, Recording Secretary
2 HOLLAND ELEMENTARY PTO PTO MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION Our PTO provides many wonderful things for the students and our school. 4 HOMEROOM PARENT Two parents are chosen from each class to be this year s Homeroom Parent. A Homeroom Parent must be a paid member of our PTO. The PTO and our school greatly depend upon the dedication and cooperation of all Homeroom Parents with respect to ALL of the responsibilities outlined below. 1. MONTHLY GENERAL PTO MEETINGS: Either one or both Homeroom Parents must attend the monthly general PTO meetings. A listing of all PTO meeting dates is in the Communication folder as well as on the PTO website. 2. BACK-TO-SCHOOL NIGHTS: One or both of the Homeroom Parents are asked to: (1) briefly introduce themselves as their class Homeroom Parents; (2) circulate a sign-up sheet for parent volunteers to help with class parties; and (3) collect the funds needed for the class parties held throughout the year. 3. CLASS PARTIES: (Halloween, Winter Holiday, Valentine s Day and an End-of-the-Year celebration). The Homeroom Parents plan and organize these parties according to the guidelines set by Mr. Sanko. 3. SCHOOL FAIR (Spring, 2011): Both Homeroom Parents are required to work a two-hour shift at the fair. If you cannot work at the fair, it is your responsibility to get your replacement. 4. FIELD TRIPS: You may be asked by your teacher to accompany the class on field trips. HOWEVER, being a Homeroom Parent does not automatically mean that you attend any and all field trips. As always, teachers will make the final decision on chaperone selection. IMPORTANT: If you are interested in being a Homeroom Parent for your child s class, please complete the following sheet and return it in the large envelope by SEPTEMBER 1 ST. If you were a Homeroom Parent for your child last year, you may not be selected for this year, unless there is a shortage of volunteers for that class. All names submitted will be placed in a hat. If your name is selected, Elaine Rovner, our PTO Homeroom Coordinator, will contact you. THOSE PARENTS SELECTED ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND A BRIEF MEETING ON SEPTEMBER 16 TH at 6:45 PM (immediately prior to General PTO Meeting).
