At this time in Term 4, our collective sights are fixed on seeing our students cross the finish line, setting them up for a successful year of study next year and to reflect on their achievements in A lot of work has happened in the classroom and in our students homes to help children stay the course and achieve the best result they can. We would like to acknowledge the effort put in by parents and carers in helping students on their academic journey. We especially acknowledge our Year 6 primary school leavers departing our school and recognise their 7 years of hard work. Best of luck to Michael and Ryan for their Secondary years. On Friday 11 th November Amiens State School observed Remembrance Day, commemorating the 98 th anniversary of the Armistice which ended the First World War. This was an important time for us to pause and reflect on the services and sacrifices of those who have fought for our country in times of conflict. Many thanks to those parents and the wider community who joined with us to observe this most important day and for your support of our school. Particular thanks to our P&C who provided the characteristic quality morning tea that we have become used to! Congratulations to the Years 3 6 students whose effort and participation ensured a successful commemoration. Another successful Book Fair was run by our tireless P&C. At this moment Mrs Maria Ricca is packing up her final Book Fair. We must thank Mrs Ricca for her effort over a number of years in organising these much-looked-forward-to events in our school calendar. Thanks Mrs Ricca! Congratulations to Alexzander, Lachy D, Sienna, Jaxon, Michael and Isaac as winners of the Book Fair competition. We are welcoming our local State Government member, Hon Lawrence Springborg, to our school today. Amiens Historical Association Tour Guides Launch Sunday 20th November 2016 Our P & C are catering at our School for the Launch on Sunday. We need help with: 1. Making sandwiches and sausage sizzle on Sunday morning from 9:00am to 1:00pm 2. Picking up orders of soft drinks, bread and ice on Friday and Sunday morning 3. Set up Saturday afternoon at 1:00pm. Kittens for Sale If you are interested in buying a kitten, please phone Kathy Hart on This week was the last week for borrowing from the Library for the year. All students MUST return their books next week. Any books that are lost or damaged will need to be replaced by parents. A permission form has been sent home for our upcoming Brisbane City Urban Adventure on Friday 25th November. Parents, could all forms be returned by this Friday 18th November. All outstanding money needs to be finalised BY FRIDAY 25TH NOVEMBER. P&C News There are 6 boxes of chocolates left over from the Orienteering. If anybody is interested in taking a box of chocolates to sell, they can be collected from the office. Also there are 4 boxes of frozen chips for sale at a cost of $32.00 per box or $8.00 a bag. Year 2 are What a memorable Remembrance Service we witnessed on 11 th. We are very proud of the achievements of the children. Thank you to the Parents and Community members who attended this service. Most of the assessment pieces have been completed. The Prep and Year 1 children are working on their oral presentation of a chosen creature what a range of creatures have been chosen? Crazy Cards, Addition and Subtraction Problem Solving tasks have been assessed. Mrs Yates will continue to check Sight words and PM Benchmarking. During this week, we hope to finish off most items. Most of the children are reading accurately but some need continued work on - retell, sequence and understanding of what they are reading. We have only two weeks of homework left if benchmarks are met. Number facts recall needs to be accurate and rapid please continue to assist with this matter at home. Addition and Subtraction operations become easier to complete if their number facts are easily recalled. Anne and Kayleen Playgroup continues each Monday all welcome. For the next couple of Mondays, we will be preparing for Christmas.

4 provides for us and our community and what they care about and would like to ask Mr Springborg. Students brain-stormed this comprehensive and wide-ranging record. In English, students have completed our unit of work writing Information Reports, with a report on Remembrance Day. Kayden and Korbyn did an excellent job of displaying these reports as part of our school commemoration last Friday. Parents and members of the community took time to read these reports whilst having morning tea with the students and staff. Our final unit in English for the year for Years 2 to 6 cohort is to create a multi-modal (the modes being written dialogue and visual images) story about two main characters behaviours when faced with a problem. Students will be planning their story by creating character profiles (their physical appearance and personality traits) and learning about body language and gestures to enhance their story. Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) This week in our Positive Behaviour for Learning, students will be focusing
