2 How the apprenticeship works Recruiting is done during the Junior or Senior year in High School First Year: ½ day High School, ½ day hands-on training at company Second through Fourth Year: 1 day/week at Community College, 4 days/week hands-on training at company Apprentices are paid for work hours as well as school hours Company pays tuition at Community College 2

3 What is Apprenticeship 2000? 6400 hours of learning hands on manufacturing skills 1600 hours of college education What do I get for completing the apprenticeship? Journeyman Certificate from the Department of Commerce Associates degree in Mechatronics from CPCC Dual Training - Academics in College / hands on at company Additional College for advanced degrees (company dependent) Guaranteed employment after graduation 3

6 Selection requirements Oct Nov Dec Recruiting at local High Schools from Oct. 26 thru Nov. 20 Already booked: Nov. 2 Applied Technologies Center Nov. 3 Nation Ford HS Nov. 4 Fort Mill HS Nov. 12 Ardrey Kell HS Counselors to provide current transcripts for all students attending the presentations Open House on Dec, 5 th at Chiron America and Pfaff Molds Attending students must bring at least one parent/legal guardian to the Open House to be further considered For High school min GPA 2.8 For home school CPCC placement test Algebra 1 and at least another math class Algebra 2, Statistics, Calculus, Geometry Good attendance (No more than 5 absences per year) Recommended courses Physics Drafting Computer application Courses Any Related Hands-On Courses 6
