3 Important dates January 30 - February 10: Department-led sessions on course options and prerequisites Monday, February 6: Course selection presentation by counselors Week of February 6: Course selection help/q&a every day during lunch in the counseling office February 6-27: Online course selection open! Monday, February 27: printout of course requests and signature page due in World History classes
4 Reviewing your Transcript Check the bottom right corner of your transcript. Are you on track to graduate? You receive 5 credits per semester for each course in which you earn a D- or above. For 4-year colleges, grades below a C- rarely count towards eligibility.
5 Reviewing your Transcript Report any errors or omissions to the Counseling Office. If you received less than a C- in any class and hope to make up grades, please stop by the Counseling Office for advice. Summer School may be a good option.
6 Designing your Schedule Find a good balance between classes & activities 6 classes is mandatory, 7 is optional 5 academic classes recommended for 4-year college-bound students We do not recommend taking more than 5 academic classes Sleep, mental health, family, friends, & activities are just as important for you AND for colleges as the schedule you choose. Choose wisely.

15 Course Selection Guidelines Refer to Course List. Choose one course per discipline: English, History, Science, Math, plus electives (language, fine or applied arts, social studies elective). Some courses will be prescheduled (e.g. U.S. History). DO NOT delete prescheduled courses. Please note any variances in Special Circumstances box on Signature Page. Math and language will be determined by teacher recommendation.

18 Course Selection Instructions Available classes will show on the right; selected courses will move to the left column Be sure to select alternates for all elective courses
19 Course Selection Instructions When course requests are complete click out of Course Requests Entry, then reenter Use your browser s print feature to print a copy of course requests (Ctrl-P or Command-P)
20 Course Selection Instructions Review your transcript and course prerequisites before selecting classes. Course descriptions available on website: Counseling > Choosing Classes Pay attention to mandatory meetings, auditions, applications for special classes Review your course selections with parent/guardian Select alternatives for all elective courses.
21 Special Circumstances Box Preference for a free 1 st or 7 th period Waiving PE (must also attach a signed PE Exemption Form) Indicating interest in special programs (e.g. Venture please also request the appropriate courses) Requesting two courses in same core discipline (one must be listed as an alternate request and a second course is not guaranteed)
