Thank you for the fantastic support from the Year Six parent helpers and Graduation Committee who made a most significant contribution to this year s graduation, assisting with outstanding hall decorations, preparing and serving the food, setting up and clearing the hall. Ms Julie Fleming has spent countless hours assisting Year 6 teachers with the Year 6 finale performance of which was a true indication of the wonderful time our Year 6 students have had in their many years at Mont Albert. A large number of families will conclude their association with Mont Albert Primary School as their child graduates this year. Our best wishes and thanks go to these families for their support and assistance over the years. To students who are leaving Mont Albert PS for a range of reasons, before the completion of Year 6, I wish you well at your new schools. I hope you and your families will all look upon your time at Mont Albert with fabulous memories. I would especially like to thank Jehrom Clift for his unwavering support for the school staff, administration and community; his leadership of school council; his wise advice on many issues and his always passionate and positive conversations both public and private about our school. Mr Andrew Searle and Mr Craig Crouch have also been exceptional in what they continue to bring to the school in their role/s as Assistant Principal/s and the consistent, unwavering support that they give to myself and all staff. Year 6 Gift to the School This year for the Gift to the School, Year 6 s have created a ceramic leaf. One half of their leaf represents their present time in Year 6 and the half of the leaf their future. The leaf itself is connected with our school LEARN values. If you would like to have a look at the Year 6 leaf installation it is located in the middle of the Senior Building wall, outside the computer hub area. Special thanks to Mitch Gillam s Grandpa, Clive, who generously gave his time to help glue the leaves to the wall. Michelle Haymes SECOND HAND UNIFORM SHOP VOLUNTEERS NEEDED The MAPS second-hand uniform shop operates on most Friday mornings during school terms from about 8.45am to 9.30am, in the foyer outside the new uniform shop. 4 FILM CLUB FILM NIGHT 2012 Last Friday the students from MAPS Film Club had the premiere screening of their short films for The night was a great success, with students screening 3 of their own films, Monster in the Pool, Billionaire, and Found Out, as well as two collaborative projects involving orphans from India and the Philippines, Together, and Mouse. The students enjoyed the opportunity to talk about their films before they were shown and to make their way to the stage, through the paparazzi, on their very own Green Carpet. It was great to see so many people turn up to support the students and to celebrate all of their hard work over the last two terms (Particularly so many MAPS staff, during this busy time of year!). Their support was very much appreciated. We raised over $600, which will go towards equipment and transport for disadvantaged children, in Australia and overseas, to participate in arts and sporting activities early next year. Congratulations to all of those students who participated in the writing, directing, filming, acting and editing of the films: Emily Woods, Alice Goucher, Sarah Hare, Eva Williams, Maella Teele, Sarah Dixon, Pip Gladman, Jessica Paris, Tara Lake, Kimberley Yu, Bella Harvey, Claire Morgan, Charli Williams, Amelia Neil, James Thorne, Alice Lu, Sean Tan, Sam Lord, Boyd Marshall, Jackson Napier, Damien Klein, Zac Vitalos, Emmy Forsberg, Olivia Gazeas, Georgia Bromell, Matthew Rowell, Audrey Thomas, Jade Alexander and Josh Calabrese! I really enjoyed watching all of the finished movies. Jade Alexander It was very exciting seeing our films and getting the chance to talk about them. Eva Williams It was really good because some other groups had done some films that were very funny. Emily Woods I liked watching Mouse and the other groups movies. STUDENT BANKING Alice Lu Well done to all our student bankers. You have done a fantastic job of saving this year. This year, your banking efforts have helped to raise over $1500 commission for the school. Thankyou to Rebecca O Brien and Amanda Ing for helping this year. My Special thanks must go to Wendy Lake, who leaves us after 5 years of assisting with student banking. Her help has been greatly appreciated. We are still seeking parent helpers for So, if you can spare an hour on a Tuesday morning each week, we would love to hear from you. Please contact Cathy Goucher on if you can assist. Cathy Goucher Student Banking Volunteer Coordinator FIRST AID END OF YEAR COLLECTION OF STUDENT S MEDICATION STORED IN FIRST AID A reminder that medication will remain locked away in First Aid over the summer period this year, unless: Your child is not returning to MAPS in 2013 SCHOOL CHARGES 2013 The due date for payment has now passed.
