16 Pastoral Reminders Punctuality: School starts at 8.25am-please ensure your child is in school on time. Homework: Homework is recorded on Show My Homework. Login details for this were shared last week. If you are having problems accessing this site please do speak with your form tutor. Each piece of Homework should take approximately 30 minutes. Please provide a quiet space for your children to complete their homework where they will not be distracted. Lunch- please ensure you top up your child s Parent Pay account. If your child needs a non-urgent medical appointment, please make these outside of the school day. We do not authorise holiday requests. Any known absences should be discussed with the Head of Year in advance.

19 Team-building activities for students with students in their form groups. Students who participate in the day will complete their Head s Challenge: Outdoor Activity Challenge. All activities will be led by qualified instructors at HOAC. Students who can swim 10 metres will be able to take part in the water activities. Please indicate this on your form. Students should get to school as normal on the morning of the trip. We aim to arrive back at school by 15:45. Kit list: Students should wear old clothes that can get dirty. Students must bring a spare change of clothes (including shoes) and a towel. Packed lunch Sun hat/cream and a raincoat Please return any outstanding forms ASAP.

27 Year 7 Home Learning Grid Autumn 1 Choose one home learning activities each week. You can choose which ones to do and in which order you do them. Parents please sign and date when your child has completed a task. Lab Safety Literacy (wb ) Write/draw a comic strip of an accident that happened in the lab and how it was dealt with by the students and teacher. It can be as funny as your like! Extension: What do we do to prevent these accidents from happening? Parent/Carer signature Build a model bone joint. Cells (wb ) Build a 3D cell of your choice. Remember to label and annotate the organelles. Add a label indicating how big your cell is in real life. Extension What is the function of your cell? Is it animal, plant, bacteria or fungi? Which tissue/organ/organ system does it belong to? Can you calculate the magnification of your cell verses the real cell? 28 Historical research: Energy Research one of the first scientists to produce electricity (write it out in your own words). Where & when were they from? What did they discover? Why did they work on it? What was their main challenge? How did they overcome it? Extension: Write a list of questions we can ask you in class about your scientist. You could even be in character! Food and energy Do an activity for a set amount of time e.g. cycling, running, swimming, dancing etc. Then find a food item that is the equivalent of the amount of energy you ve used. Take a selfie doing the activity and then with your food item! year olds use (boys) 9,290kJ - (girls) 7,720kJ per day functioning normally (average). Add on your sports activities and calculate how much energy you use per week. Extension: Does that equate to the number of snacks you are having? Do you need to change anything to balance it? Free Choice Choose to do a task that is related to something that you have been learning about in school. Write a short description or draw a picture of what you did and why.
