All the events this year, going back to the quiz night in the autumn, the coffee mornings, bags to school, scavenger hunt and many more, have been very successful. You have helped raise a significant amount of money for charity but also educated our pupils in sharing and caring. The school and the education of the pupils is a team effort and at Clifton the teachers are privileged to have such a supportive set of parents. As I write this we still have our drama production and Speech Day to come. I am very much looking forward to Speech Day because it will give me a chance to thank our children for all their hard work and to recognise some great achievements. I have enjoyed my time at Clifton Lodge and I want to thank all those who have made me feel so welcome and a part of the school community. The pupils have been a pleasure to teach and I am going to miss them, as I am going to miss the staff and parents. It is always sad to say goodbye but I will take away some fantastic memories. Can I wish everyone a lovely summer break, returning in the autumn fully refreshed and ready for the next academic year. 2 Speech Day A wonderful culmination to the year, our Speech Day held in the Victoria Hall at Ealing Town Hall celebrated our pupils achievements and successes. In addition to awarding trophies and prizes, we enjoyed the Head Boy s speech from Ryan and our Head Girl, Naledi introduced Mr Floyd Steadman, our guest speaker and next year s Executive Head of Clifton Lodge School. Thank you to all the pupils who did instrumental performances and Lamda readings, you all did so well. Finally a big thank you to Miss Hanna and our fantastic choir (incidentally, go to our facebook page to see a short video clip of the choir singing on the bus!). 3 Nursery Showcase A massive well done to our youngest pupils for entertaining their parents on 5 th July with a fabulous Nursery Showcase, including drama and singing (in French and English!) We must mention their teachers who have worked so hard to help the children learn the songs and perform.

4 Lamda Showcase A massive well done to all the children who took part in the Lamda showcase on the evening of Wednesday 28th June, when they performed in front of an audience of family and friends. They all performed brilliantly - in the words of one parent 'the children were impressive' and indeed they were. They also behaved impressively as audience members supporting each others performances. The children benefit so much from watching each others work and for the younger children, they can see from the older children, what they can work towards. A big thank you to all the parents who took the time out to come and support the children. Choir visit to Springhallow School Last Friday the school choir had the opportunity to perform for pupils at Springhallow school in West Ealing. They performed a selection of songs they learnt throughout the year and the pupils and staff from Springhallow school really enjoyed the performance. As a result, the choir have been invited back later in the year.

5 Summer Fayre Thank you to the PTA for another excellent Summer Fayre. A total of 1752 was raised on the day. Thank you to everyone involved in making this such a success.

6 Summer Fayre

7 Drama Production Thank you to all the pupils who took part in The Butterfly Shoes, our drama production on Monday evening. It was absolutely wonderful, with amazing performances and great support from the pupils working backstage (and moving the scenery around!). Well done to you all. Thanks also to parents and staff who came along. A big well done and thanks to Mr Wright for putting on such a fun, entertaining production.

8 Tech-Free Week W/C 19 th June Some more photos from our Tech-Free Week, afternoon sessions. Years 4 and 5 had to work in groups to design and make an outfit out of newspapers. The second session was the cereal box game where they had to try and pick up the box using only their teeth and weren t allowed to touch the floor with their hands, elbows, knees etc American Independence Day Thank you to our Chef Rohan and his assistant Marie for treating pupils and staff to a wonderful American themed lunch last week, complete with decorations and flags!

9 Inter-House Rounders Pupils had a wonderful time at our Inter-House Rounders afternoon. Congratulations to the winning house, Northover. Here are a few photos to enjoy:

10 Y8 Trip to Escape London A week ago Miss Law and Mrs Chuck took our Year 8 pupils for an adventure at Escape London. They were locked in a room, underground and told to decipher clues to escape, whilst avoiding the aliens! They worked together as a team to solve the clues very quickly (within a 60 minute time limit) and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. They ultimately escaped with 15 minutes left to go! This was followed by a fitting lunch of burgers (to celebrate American Independence Day).

11 Pupil Achievements Junior Mathematical Challenge 2017 After achieving an excellent result in the Junior Maths Challenge back in April, Matthew (Y7) was invited to take part in a second round called the Junior Maths Kangaroo. Matthew has been awarded a merit for a fantastic score of 118 out of a possible 135, this means he was in the top 25% of the country! Well done also to Tomoki, Ryan and Misaki who gained Silver Certificates. Tomoki (Y7), Ryan (Y8) and Misaki (Y7) were awarded Silver Certificates Matthew (Y7) was awarded a Gold Certificate Well done to Parsa (Y1) who received a Bronze Mathletics Certificate: James (Y5) James played a club tennis tournament on 29 th June at Will to Win. He pushed himself a step further and played against boys 2 years older and won the best under 12's player of the club. He must have been inspired by their trip to Halle Open where he met Roger Federer and other top 10 ATP players. James also managed to get an autograph from Roger Federer on his Will to Win hoodie!

12 House Points Final House Points tally Congratulations to Cass: Cass 1784 Mayet 1322 Northover 1543 Ward 1467 Congratulations to all the pupils who received House Point Certificates over the last 2 weeks. A special mention for Rachel (Y5), Tochi (Y4) and Jaivier (Y4) who attained 100 Club certificates well done! Pupil Achievements - continued On Sunday 25th June India and Maisie (Reception) performed in a dance show at 'Pitshanger's Party in the Park' The girls danced to Cotton Eye Joe with their Jazz 1 dance class. They had lots of fun and did really well.
