1 SCHOOL YEAR 2018/19 - NEWSLETTER NO 10 Please go to: Dear Parents/Carers, As the spring half term draws to a close, you really can t beat the glorious sunshine outside, promising that warmer times are around the corner. Let s hope that this means the colds and coughs are over for now, and everyone has a happy, healthy half term break. Watching Class 5 s assembly this morning I was reminded of what confident, creative learners we have at Aldborough. This was mirrored last week at Aldborough s entertaining community panto where Mrs Taylor frequently pointed out present and former Aldborough pupils acting on the stage. Being part of such a supportive, collaborative community sets a great example to the younger generation. Best wishes, Mrs Read Aldborough Learning Together SCHOOL COUNCIL BAKE SALE in aid of WWF: Great fundraising Mr Caston and the School Council for the children s chosen charity the World Wildlife Fund.Thank you to everyone that baked and ate cakes it was a scrumptious end to the week, raising an amazing 93. INVASION GAMES/TAG RUGBY: Well done to Classes 1-5 who have worked hard developing invasion games skills on Tuesdays otherwise known as Muddy Tuesdays! These sessions are expertly led Tom, the sports coach, from Premier Sports who also leads a football club at lunchtimes. It s always good to see great teamwork, while making the most of the school grounds. Please do remember to provide outdoor PE clothes for all children, especially a change of footwear!

BIG SCHOOLS BIRDWATCH:Thank you to Mrs Stanbury and all of the Y6 children who collected data for the Schools Birdwatch Project last Friday.

It very much appears that their hard work was rewarded with a variety of bird species being recorded.

At first hand they experienced the incubation of the eggs, to the hatching of the chicks within minutes of the predicted hatching time.

Sadly, the chicks have now moved on to their larger hen house in the local area although it has been said that they will still be able to hear Mr Caston playing on his guitar!

) PIZZA MAKING: Class 4 had a very busy afternoon making pizzas on Thursday, turning their pizza designs into scrumptious dishes.

2 BIG SCHOOLS BIRDWATCH:Thank you to Mrs Stanbury and all of the Y6 children who collected data for the Schools Birdwatch Project last Friday.They made some fantastic bird food creations using floristery wire to entice more wild birds to visit the school site. It very much appears that their hard work was rewarded with a variety of bird species being recorded. FAREWELL TO THE CHICKS: Class 2 have enjoyed a very special science/life cycles learning experience this half term. At first hand they experienced the incubation of the eggs, to the hatching of the chicks within minutes of the predicted hatching time. As the chicks developed over such a short of period of time, it was amazing for the children to observe changes in their features and behaviour. Sadly, the chicks have now moved on to their larger hen house in the local area although it has been said that they will still be able to hear Mr Caston playing on his guitar! (Thank you for all of the parent support enabling the children to have this valuable learning experience.) Considering how much the children love LEGO, it would be fantastic if we could collect a bumper number of vouchers next half term. There will be a special half term BONANZA whereby every day you can get a massive 11 vouchers!!! FRIENDS BINGO & CHIPS: Thank you to everyone that joined us for a fun evening on Friday 1 st February. A fabulous 260 was raised to enhance the children s learning. Y6 PGL PAYMENT REMINDER: The 6 th payment of 50 is due on Friday 8 th March RECEPTION POSTBOX: Thank you to everyone using the post box on the wall by the office. It really has made a big difference.

Unfortunately a few children are still forgetting to use it so your support reminding them about it would be much appreciated. DINNERS & SNACKS: 2.20 a day for a school dinner. Snacks are 40p a day.

We do have pupils with a nut allergy and for their safety it is important that nuts should not be brought into the school. Thank you for your continued support.

FRIENDS of ALDBOROUGH PRIMARY CLOTHES FOR CASH: BAGS 2 SCHOOL. A great opportunity to declutter after Christmas and get rid of clothes that are worn/no longer fit. Keep hold of those bags of unwanted clothes we can turn them into money for the school that will support the children s learning. In past collections we ve raised over 160 per collection just from having a good clear out at home!
