Average Load is an indication of student volume, or the commitment students have toward accelerating the process for attainment of a degree, certificate, transfer, or attainment of their respective educational goal. 3

9 Age Average Age of MCC Students Average Age Median Age Average Age, 27 Median Age, The average age of MCC students has remained steady at 27 years over the the last four years. The median age has remained relatively stable at 24 years. The median age represents the middle value when ages are arranged from lowest to highest. The median is considered a better indicator of age because it is less skewed by low or high values. 7

Because we are looking at relative proportions, a percentage increase in full-time students would also result in a like percentage decrease in part-time students. According to the data table for Summer 2008 to 2012, the relative proportion of students enrolled full-time has decreased from 41 to 37 percent; a decrease of 4 percent. Likewise, the relative proportion of part-time students has increased 4 percentage points from 59 to 63 percent. 8

Stop-Outs are students that have attended one of our colleges in the past but did not enroll during the previous semester. These students have a tendency for unusual enrollment patterns, such as, enrolling only in the fall, every second semester, and so forth. Reverse Transfers refer to students who enroll at MCC with their most recent educational experience being at another college. Dual-Credit students are those who enroll simultaneously in high school and college-level courses. 9
