1 The 83 rd Texas Legislature with the approval of the State Board of Education, enacted House Bill 5 (HB5) which created the new Foundation High School Program, Foundation High School Program with Endorsements and Distinguished Level of Achievement Diplomas effective for all students entering high school in Under House Bill 5 the Foundation High School Plan replaces the current minimum, recommended and distinguished graduation plans, known as the Four by Four. A student may earn a Distinguished level of Achievement by successfully completing the curriculum requirements for the Foundation High School Plan and the curriculum requirements for at least one Endorsement, including four credits in science and four credits in mathematics to include Algebra II. 2 An Endorsement is an over arching area of study. Within each of the Endorsements are multiple pathways designed so a student may choose courses toward completion of their high school diploma. The Endorsements are STEM, Business and Industry, Public Services, Arts and Humanities and Multidisciplinary Studies. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics) Science, including environmental science Technology, including computer science Engineering Advanced math Business and Industry Information technology Communications Accounting Finance Marketing Architecture Construction Automotive technology Aircraft Technology Agricultural science Public Services Health sciences and occupations Education and training Law enforcement Culinary arts and hospitality Arts and Humanities World languages English History Dance Theater Art Music Multidisciplinary Studies Allows a student to select courses from the curriculum of each endorsement area and earn credits in a variety of advanced courses from multiple content areas sufficient to complete the distinguished level of achievement Some Endorsement Pathways can lead to industry certification upon completion of the sequence and after successfully passing the certification examination. The following list indicates recommended course sequence pathways for each Endorsement. Please remember there must be at least 15 students in a class for the class to remain:
