2 CELBRATES CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK January 30 February 5, 2016 Sunday, January 31, 2016 Sunday Liturgy: All students are encouraged to wear their perfect uniform to weekend Masses. Our grade 8 liturgical dancers will participate during the 10:00 am Mass. Seventh and Eighth Grade Powder Puff Football Game: 1:30 pm (soccer field) Parents and students are invited to attend. Adults $3.00, Children $2.00. Proceeds benefit Breast Cancer Research. More information about this event is attached. Monday, February 1, 2016 Opening Prayer Service, 8:15 8:35 am (outdoor altar) All school parents are invited to attend. Prospective Family Open House and Curriculum Fair (cafeteria), 7:00 pm. Tuesday, February 2, 2016 Open House and Curriculum Fair, 8:30 11:00 am (cafeteria) o Principal Presentation, 8:30 9:30 am (cafeteria) o Parents will be visiting the classrooms. Talent Show, 1:30 pm and 7:00 pm (Parish Life Center) Faculty, staff, and students will participate. Parents are invited to attend. Wednesday, February 3, 2016 NJHS Induction, 10:00 am (church) - Grades 5 8 attend All school parents are invited to attend. NJHS Luncheon is for the inductees, parents of inductees, faculty council, and administration, immediately following the Induction. 3 CELBRATES CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK January 30 February 5, 2016 Thursday, February 4, 2016 Jump for Jesus (K 5), 9:30 11:00 am (track / soccer field). Students are to wear soft-soled shoes and socks, and bring a water bottle. More information on this fun-filled morning is attached. Parents are invited to attend. Volleyball Game (Staff vs. Grade 8 Students), 2:00 pm (gym) Parents are invited to attend. Students are to be packed up and ready for dismissal prior to walking over to the gymnasium for the volleyball game; all items stay in the classroom. Friday, February 5, 2016 Student Dismissal: 2:00 pm Liturgy (5), 10:30 am (church) - Catholic Schools Week Awards will be distributed after the Liturgy. Parents are invited to attend this event. School Picnic, 12:00 noon - Families are invited to join their children on our campus for a picnic lunch. Lunch, including a drink, is to be brought from home or lunch may be purchased from The Mustang Club for a cost of $5.00 per person. Attached is an order form to order lunch from the Mustang Club. Pep Rally, 1:00 pm (gym) Sports teams and cheerleaders may wear their team uniform with a shirt underneath their jersey (if sleeveless). Parents are invited to attend this event. 4 CELBRATES CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK January 30 February 5, 2016 Student Dress for Catholic Schools Week Monday, February 1st St. Mary Magdalen Spirit Day Guidelines for boys and girls Students may wear dress pants, jeans, shorts, or skorts (no shorter than 3 inches above the knee) and their St. Mary Magdalen Catholic School Mustang Stampede shirt or any other St. Mary Magdalen Catholic School shirt. Pants may not have writing on them and may not be too tight. Shirts must have sleeves and appropriate writing Tuesday, February 2nd Regular School Uniform of the Day with Silly Socks Wednesday, February 3rd Perfect Uniform (No P.E. uniforms.) Crazy Hat (hats may not be worn in the church) Thursday, February 4th College or Sports Team Shirt and PE shorts and Crazy Hair Friday, January 30th Regular School Uniform of the Day Current CYS athletes may wear their sport uniforms. 8 Jump for Jesus is here again! Jump for Jesus will be held on Thursday February 4, 2016 from 9:30 to 11:00 am at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic School for students in kindergarten through grade 5. We invite you to grab a jump rope and help your child prepare for this event (especially kindergarten parents). We work with the students in PE but extra practice helps make them great! Jump roping is also a good and healthy way to spend time with your children; getting the whole family involved. Schedule for the Day (February 4th) Parent volunteers sign in at 8:00 am. Jump Roping events run from 9:30-10:50 am. Overall challenge and awards take place from 10:50 11:00 am. Students return to their classroom at 11:00 am. Reminders for the day of this event (February 4th) Dress Code: College or sports team shirt with PE shorts and crazy hair. Girls should have their hair in a ponytail, braid, pig tails, or any other style that keeps their hair off of their neck and out of their face. Please send a water bottle to school with your child with his/her name on the water bottle. Your child may bring his/her own jump rope to school. If your child does not have a jump rope, we will supply one. This day is sure to be a fun experience for your child. 9 St. Mary Magdalen National Junior Honor Society Invites All Families to POWDER PUFF Powder Puff is an annual flag football game at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic School between Grade 7 and Grade 8 girls. The 7 th and 8 th grade boys have a tug-a-war competition during half-time. This event is a community builder used to kick off Catholic Schools Week. WHEN: Sunday, January 31, 2016 at 1:30 pm WHERE: St. Mary Magdalen Soccer Field COST OF ADMISSION: $2.00 for children - $3.00 for adults Refreshments will be sold at the game. All proceeds will be donated to Breast Cancer Research. NJHS members will collect donations daily (excluding Mondays) in the classrooms during homeroom. Sponsored by the National Junior Honor Society.
