2 Welcome Back! Welcome back. We welcome the new families who have joined our school community. We have a busy term ahead of us. The Term Calendar is included with this newsle er. Our newsle er can also be accessed on our web page White Elephant Stall On Mission Day, Friday 3rd November, we will be having a White Elephant Stall. This weekend you and your child/ren have a clean out of their bedroom, send anything you don t want to school for the White Elephant Stall. The old saying one man s trash is another man s treasure. Please send these treasures to school from tomorrow onwards. Summer Uniform The official changeover to summer uniform is following Labour Weekend, Tuesday 24th October. Students may begin wearing the summer uniform from the beginning of Term 4. Girls Summer Uniform Green and white checked tunic, plain black, brown or red sandals. Senior Girls: Green and white checked skirt or tunic Boys Summer Uniform Grey polo shirt with school monogram, grey summer shorts. Black or brown sandals. Unisex Green Jersey or jacket, both with school monogram and green hat wide -brimmed or bucket style. At the beginning of Term 4 (as per our school s Sun Safe policy) students must wear their hat outside at breaks and during PE. Please ensure your child has a hat which is clearly named on the outside of the brim. Teacher Trainee We welcome Rachel Williams. Rachel will be working alongside Amy McChesney in Room 10. Mass Times Friday 9.00am School Mass Saturday 5.30pm Parish Mass (SPC) Sunday 10am St Joseph s Fairfield Athletics As prepara on for our school and inter-school athle cs events, coaches from Sports Waikato will be working with our students over the next two weeks. Labour Day The school will be closed on Monday 23rd October as it is Labour Day. 2

3 Results Cross Country Term 3 Week 9 & 10 was a busy 2 weeks for our Year 7&8 cross country compe tors. In Week 9, 16 students competed at the Catholic Inter Schools Year 7&8 Cross Country at the Kihikihi domain. Compe on was fierce, but the friendship and support of compe tors was felt by all making the day a huge success. All the SPC students did well but a huge congratula ons goes to Jack Murray-Griffiths who placed 3rd in the Year 8 boys race. Well done! In Week 10, 4 SPC students a ended the Waikato Full Primary Schools Cross Country in Te Aroha. All the runners did well compe ng against such fierce compe on. Jack finished within the top 20 runners and the other students finishied a er this. Well done all of you! A huge thank you must go to the parents who supported us on both of these days; events like this cannot happen without you. PTFA Meeting The PTFA are holding their next mee ng on Thursday 26th October at 7pm in the Staffroom. The main item on the agenda will be the organisa- on for the Cultural Evening which will be held on Thursday 16th November. All welcome. Art Calendars The classes will be busy creating art for this annual fundraiser. Calendars cost $10 each and make great Christmas presents for Grandparents, family and friends. Children will be bringing the order forms home next week. Please note that ONLY CALENDARS are available for purchase. 4 St Peter Chanel Athletics The SPC Athle cs for students ages 8 13 years is to be held at Porri Stadium on Thursday 9th November. As the students will be involved in may different ac vi es, we would appreciate parent help to manage different events or assist with ming. If you are able to help could you please fill in the form below and return it to the school office. Return slip I am able to help with the Athle cs Day at Porri Stadium: Name: Phone: International Evening To celebrate the fact that our school popula on comprises many different ethnic groups, the PTFA are planning to host an Interna onal Cultural Evening at school on Thursday 16th November. The programme will involve performances by our student cultural groups and a shared meal. To celebrate the diversity in our community we are asking parents to bring a dish of food that is popular in their culture. This is a wonderful way for our community to come together and share. Representa ves from our cultural groups are invited to the PTFA mee ng on Thursday 26th October to discuss planning for the Interna onal Evening. 4

6 Waikato Junior Fooltball Girls League Winners!
