3 ROGER M. THIES, PE, LEED AP Project Manager Understanding today s construction methods is key to executing practical designs. It also drastically reduces the number of change orders required on a job, which helps the project come in on time and within budget. - Roger M. Thies RESPONSIBILITIES As Director of Operations for Barton s State College office, Mr. Thies is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the office including business development and project management. He provides overall administration and technical supervision of projects including administering the firm s quality assurance procedures. He also serves as the primary liaison between Barton and the client and is responsible for managing the project team and meeting project schedules and budgets. The projects include two new, 55,000 and 60,000 square-foot elementary schools as well as a four-classroom addition to another elementary school. Governor Mifflin Elementary School - Shillington, PA Served as project manager for a new 2-story, 76,000 square-foot elementary school. The District is currently pursuing LEED Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for this project. Governor Mifflin Intermediate School - Shillington, PA Served as project manager for this 136,000 square-foot renovation project for the Governor Mifflin School District. included the replacement of existing boilers and a pool heater to accommodate building renovations. Orendorf Elementary School - Manchester, PA Served as project manager for a $1 million, 65,000 square-foot renovation for Orendorf Elementary School located in Northeastern School District. Governor Mifflin Cumru and Brecknock Elementary School HVAC Replacements Shillington, PA Served as project manager for renovations to two elementary schools in the Governor Mifflin Area School District. The projects included HVAC system replacements to provide air conditioning to the schools as well as replacing the two-pipe unit vent systems with four-pipe unit vent systems for the 59,000 and 57,000 square-foot buildings. Both projects were constructed while classes were in session through a coordinated phasing effort among the district, and design and construction teams. Northeastern Middle School - Manchester, PA Served as project manager for a new 166,000 square-foot middle school located in Northeastern School District. The new middle school included classrooms, technical education space, computer science classrooms, a cafeteria, gymnasium with locker rooms and a weight room, as well as a media center and auditorium. Lindbergh Street Building - York, PA Served as project manager for a 22,000 square-foot renovation that created 9 classrooms, a dining room and administrative offices. The facility is ADA accessible with the addition of a ramp and an elevator. The HVAC system includes a water-to-air geothermal heat pump system that will allow individual space temperature control for each room. The District is currently pursuing Silver LEED Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for this project.

Providing a solution to those challenges that is sensitive to both the Client s budget and time makes the project a success. - Adam Warriner RESPONSIBILITIES As an HVAC Designer for Barton Education, Mr. Warriner is responsible for design calculations and layouts; computer selections, research and specifications for equipment and research of code requirements. He also assists the project engineer in the preparation of studies, reports, specifications and probable construction costs for projects. REGISTRATION Professional Engineer in PA and NC Penn State University Hetzel Union Building (HUB) & Grange Campus Chilled Water - University Park, PA Currently serving as lead HVAC designer for a 290,000 square-foot renovation that will connect the HUB and Grange Buildings to the campus chilled water system. The project will also include a feasibility study recommending additional changes to improve operating efficiency of the campus chilled water plant. The 27,000 square-foot project includes new HVAC systems as well as replacement of the lighting system and utility infrastructure upgrades. Penn State University Wood Shop Renovation - University Park, PA Currently serving as project manager for a 4,000 square-foot renovation of a wood shop into an office area consisting of private offices and an open office area. The project includes a new proposed VAV air handling unit as well as exposed systems and high efficiency lighting. Penn State University Hosler Building Laboratory Renovation - University Park, PA Currently serving as lead HVAC designer for 1,400 square feet of renovations in Holser Building that will include spaces for a mass spectrometer room and 2 clean rooms equipped with perchorloric acid fume hoods. Penn State University Mueller Lab Heat Exchanger Replacement - University Park, PA Currently serving as lead HVAC designer for the replacement of the existing steam to hot water converter with a plate and frame heat exchanger. The project will provide new controls that interface with automated logic. Penn State University South Halls Renovation - University Park, PA Currently serving as lead HVAC designer for a 60,000 square-foot renovation of the existing heating system plant serving Redifer Commons in South Halls. The proposed project consists of site evaluations, as well as development of architectural, mechanical, electrical and structural design documents and specifications for bidding for the demolition of the existing heating system equipment and replacement with new plate and frame heat exchangers and related equipment. Architectural modifications will include the installation of a new double fire rated door in the corridor directly adjacent to the grated upper level area of the mechanical room. In the adjacent electrical room a new fire-rated wall and door to access the electrical room will be provided. In the existing exterior stairwell landing a new fire rated door will be provided to create new access from the building exterior to the existing interior corridor for equipment maintenance access and repairs.

Penn State University Tyson Building AHU Replacement -University Park, PA Currently serving as lead electrical designer for the replacement of 2 air handling units that service the 45,000 square-foot research and office facility at Penn State University.
