Bachelor of Arts Degree: Political Science California State University at Northridge PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE VICE PRESIDENT FOR STUDENT AFFAIRS, Coppin State University Baltimore, MD A member of the Executive Cabinet, the Vice President provides overall administrative supervision of the Division of Student Affairs. The duties include: plan, organize, and administer student services and activities to maintain academic standards and standards of appropriate conduct. The Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA) serves as the Chief Student Affairs Officer, and is responsible for the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs to include Judicial Affairs, Office of the Counseling and Student Development, ADA compliance, Disability Services, Veteran Affairs, and New Student Orientation, The Student Life Center, The Office of Student Activities, International Student Services, J. Millard Tawes University Center, Center for Information and Visitors Services, Career Services, Residence Life, and Intramurals and Recreational Activities. In addition, the VPSA is responsible for maintaining oversight of student conduct by developing, monitoring and executing provisions of the Student Code of Conduct, the Academic Integrity Policy, and the Greek Judicial Board including the selection and training of relevant hearing officers and hearing panels. The VPSA serves as the University s co-chair of the Safety and Security Task Force, recommending and implementing policy regarding safety and security for the University. Further, the VPSA is a member of the University s Emergency Preparedness and Crisis Management Team, and chairs the subcommittee on Tuition and Fees on the University s Budget Advisory Committee VICE PROVOST FOR STUDENT AFFAIRS, Howard University Washington, D.C. The Vice Provost for Student Affairs (VPSA) served as the Chief Student Affairs Officer, and was responsible for the Office of the Vice Provost for Student Affairs, Office of the Dean for Special Student Services to include Judicial Affairs, ADA compliance, Disability Services, Veteran Affairs, and New Student Orientation, Office of the Dean for Student Life and Activities, Student Activities, International Student Services, Blackburn University Center, Central Scheduling and Information, Counseling Services, Career Services, Residence Life, Intercollegiate Athletics (Division 1), and Intramurals and Recreational Activities. In addition, the VPSA is responsible for maintaining oversight of student conduct by developing, monitoring and executing provisions of the Student Code of

Created the University s Student Organization Recognition Manual, and the Greek Life Policy Manual. Developed and implemented the Division s Strategic Plan and assessment procedures. Designed and Created the Howard University Executive Leadership Institute (HUELI) for student leaders from the Nation s Historical Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU). The VPSA serves as the University s co-chair of the Safety and Security Task Force, recommending and implementing policy regarding safety and security for the University. Further, the VPSA chairs the University s Emergency Preparedness and Crisis Management Team. Manage an approximate budget of $35 million INTERIM DIRECTOR FOR INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETICS, Howard University, Washington, DC. Responsible for the administration and direction of the total Intercollegiate athletic program, which has a current annual budget of $12 million, fielding 19 intercollegiate teams (8 men s and 11 women s) in NCAA Division I, comprising over 350 student athletes and utilizing multimillion dollar physical facilities. Effectively represented the NCAA s unique attributes of fair play, character, learning, balance, spirit and community. Developed plans, policies, procedures and programs which were in compliance with the University, the Mid Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), the NCAA rules and regulations, applicable Federal laws, and which promoted the mission of the Department, the University s high standard of academic excellence and the general welfare of student-athletes. Ensured that coaching and administrative staff actively supported the Department and University s joint commitment to academic achievement for each student-athlete. Promoted athletic excellence on local, conference and national levels for the men s and women s intercollegiate sports programs, to include coordinating the recruitment, selection and evaluation of all coaches. Developed and implemented long term planning regarding not only fiscal needs for operations and capital improvements, but also internal goals for strengthening the Department through staff expansion and program development. Managed all fiscal operations, with the assistance of the Athletic Department staff. Developed and implemented programs to increase revenue sources for the Department to include effective plans for marketing and promotions as well as fund raising strategies to promote donor support of the athletics program, and negotiated two Football Classics. Served as the primary spokesperson of the Department promoting the philosophy and mission of the intercollegiate athletics program with faculty, staff, students, alumni, sports media and the general public during public relations opportunities. Represented the Department at University, community, MEAC, NCAA and other meetings and conventions. Refined the organizational structure by expanding the administrative staff to include an Associate Director, and an Assistant Director of Athletics. Approved all employee contracts for the coaches, trainers, administrative staff and other personnel who work for the Department of Athletics. Supervised their training and work to evaluate their contribution to the Department INTERIM DEAN FOR RESIDENCE LIFE, Howard University, Washington, D.C. Responsible for leading the entire residence life operation, 2

3 including the education, development, safety, health and wellness of 4,000+ residential students living in 10 residence halls. General duties included staff selection, supervision of 10 Community Directors, GA s and RA s, education and evaluation, coordinate educational programming, and provide supervision and oversight for building maintenance and housekeeping. Designed and implemented the University s online Room Selection and Verification Plan. Stabilized a Unit that was consistently over budget, and increased the housing capacity by 15%. Responsible for managing an operating budget in excess of $18 million annually SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT, Howard University, Washington, D.C. Assisted the President with the day-to-day operations of the University and with special projects, including the weekly meetings of the Executive Staff and the annual Executive Staff Retreats. Coordinated the University s community affairs and outreach efforts on behalf of the President. Planned and coordinated the budget of the Office of the President. Represented the President at University and community events and activities, and served on University and community committees and boards to represent the interests of the President and of the University. Served as the liaison to the Office of the President and to the Board of Trustees. Coordinated the work of the Office of the President, as appropriate, with the Provost and Vice Provost for Student Affairs, Sr. Vice President for Business Affairs, Sr. Vice President for University Advancement and Alumni Relations, University General Counsel, and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. Served as liaison to Staff Organizations of the University. Managed the End of Year Campaign Contributions. Directed the Office of the President Scholarship Funds. Designed and established the President s Student Leadership Retreat ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF STUDENT ACTIVITIES, Howard University Washington, D.C. Served as the central advisor to the over 140 student organizations. Advised and coordinated with students various major annual programs, such as homecoming, Spring Festival activities, the cheerleader program, student government elections, the Art & Science Student Council, Caribbean Student Council, and other programs designed and developed for student leadership development. Coordinated University support services necessary for implementation of student organized events on and off campus and provided follow-up with all parties involved. Ensured that all student activities conform to University policy and procedures. Ensured the efficient operation of office procedures by coordinating activities of assigned support personnel. Reviewed and recommended approval of student activities for all University- Wide student organizations. Selected and Supervised University personnel assigned to represent the University at student organized events and provided orientation for these individuals. Monitored out of town activities sponsored by student organizations. Selected personnel to coordinate cheerleaders, and monitored all cheerleading programs. Counseled student organizations and individuals on current University policies and procedures. Facilitated student organizations to negotiate contractual terms and ensure that student organizations comply with agreements. Directed the Student Mediation program that was designed to mediate conflicts between students on behalf of student organizations, 3

Served in a supervisory capacity actively recruited and hired all staff members. Supervised instructors, directed student counselors, and residential personnel.
