1 PRAISE SCORING SCHEME Thiss ssccheemee iss i onlyy aappl liccaabl lee tto ssttudeenttss ffrrom tthee inttaakkeess i onwaarrdss With effect from Jan 2013, a revised CCA scoring scheme, known as PRAISE, will reward you for your involvement in a variety of activities under the 8 Student Development tracks, including enrichment programmes, CCA clubs, community service, competitions and more. Participation in such activities will allow you to accumulate marks which will translate into CCA awards and corresponding GPA Advantage Points. PRAISE AND THE ACCUMULATION OF MARKS FOR GPA ADVANTAGE POINTS Through involvement in CCAs and other activities, you will be given marks based on your accomplishments in 6 categories, collectively known as PRAISE: Participation Representation Achievement leadership Service Enrichment Depending on the level of involvement and accomplishment, you will be able to earn between: 1 to 5 marks from the categories Participation, Service and Enrichment 2 to 10 marks from the categories Representation, Achievement and Leadership The highest mark attained in each of the categories will be added together and converted into GPA Advantage Points (see Table 1 below). You can accumulate marks over the duration of your course, i.e., if you are enrolled in a 2- year course, you have 2 years to accumulate 25 marks to qualify for Platinum award, 18 marks for Gold award and so on. 2. Your participation and contribution to selected external groups and events are also eligible for CCA marks. For example, secondary school uniformed groups, official sports clubs, activities at community centres and so on. 3 Annex A PARTICIPATION marks awarded are not cumulative but based on the highest level of participation Requirement a. Nation-wide events with training for e.g. motivator at National Day Parade (NDP), performer at Chingay, ushers/ merchandise assistant/ ambassadors etc at Singapore Grand Prix or b. 50 hours or more of CCA activities in ITE or c. 50 hours or more in CCA activities at former secondary school (must be approved by college) a. Constituency/ district event (with training) for e.g. events for Community Development Centres, community centres or b. 30 to 49 hours of CCA activities in ITE or c. 30 to 49 hours of CCA activities at former secondary school or d. ITE Student Seminar a. 15 to 29 hours of CCA activities in ITE or b. 15 to 29 hours of CCA activities at former secondary school or c. Nation-wide events without training for e.g. dialogue sessions, forums etc or d. Inter-varsity, IVP, POL-ITE events (with training) or e. ITE-wide or events for (with training) for e.g. SIQC Conference, Global Education Seminar, Career Fair a. College wide events for e.g. National Day Celebrations (with training) or b. District/Constituency, IVP, POL-ITE, inter-tertiary, ITE-wide or inter-college events (without training) a. School/ department events or b. Participated in College events (without training) or c. Participated in school or class events Points
4 Annex B REPRESENTATION marks awarded are not cumulative but based on the highest level of representation Requirement a. Represented Singapore at sports, arts and other competitions either held locally or overseas or Sports competitions: Olympics, Youth Olympic Games, Asian Games, SEA Games, World Cup Qualifiers and other recognised tournaments. Arts-based & other competitions: Recognised competitions in any category, for example dance, music, maths, science, technology etc. Examples include World Skills, ASEAN World Skills, i-create etc. b. Represented Singapore at Youth Expedition Projects i.e. overseas community service programme endorsed by the National Youth Council. a. Represented Singapore at seminars, conferences youth camps where students are required to present a project or b. Represented Singapore through performances at regionally/ internationally recognised platforms, for example Singapore Arts Festival, or major events like ceremonies for regional/ international games, conferences etc. a. Represented ITE at sports, arts and other competitions either held locally or overseas. Sports competitions: Indian Rim Asian University Games, inter-tertiary, IVP, POL-ITE tournaments etc. Arts-based & other competitions: Recognised competitions in any category, for example dance, music, maths, science, technology etc. Examples include World Skills Singapore, National Band Competition, DrumzOut etc. a. Represented College at local and inter-ite competitions in the area of sports, arts and other competitions or b. Represented ITE at local or overseas seminars, conferences, youth camps where students are required to present a project or c. Represented ITE (incl. corporate CeMTA) through performances in the bi-annual musical, at The Esplanade, Chingay, National Day, Shine Youth Festival and other national events or d. Represented ITE for external performances at community based and corporate events. e. Represented College in ITE-wide performances/seminars/conferences a. Represented school/ class at sports, arts and other inter-college competitions. Examples include Inter-class tournaments, Inter-School Performing Arts Challenge etc or Points
5 Requirement b. Represented College at internal performances, seminars and conferences. Examples include performances at graduation ceremonies/ MOU signings/ college-based events, presentations at SIQC etc. Points 2
6 Annex C ACHIEVEMENT marks awarded are not cumulative but based on the highest level of achievement Requirement a. Won medal/ commendation at regional or international games and competitions. For e.g. SEA Games, World Skills or b. Entered finals of regional or international games and competitions or c. Won medal/ commendation at national level games and competitions or d. Won gold at inter-varsity, IVP, POL-ITE etc games and competitions or e. NYAA - Gold a. Entered semi-finals of regional or international games and competitions or b. Entered finals at national level games and competitions or c. Won silver at inter-varsity, IVP, POL-ITE etc games and competitions or d. NYAA - Silver a. Entered quarter-finals of regional or international games and competitions or b. Entered semi-finals at national level games and competitions or c. Won bronze at inter-varsity, IVP, POL-ITE etc games and competitions or d. Won gold at inter-ite games and competitions or e. NYAA Bronze or f. NAPFA - Gold a. Entered quarter-finals at national level games and competitions or b. Obtained 4th, 5th or 6th placing at inter-varsity, IVP, POL-ITE etc games and competitions or c. 7 Annex D LEADERSHIP marks awarded are not cumulative but based on the highest level of leadership attained Requirement a. Captain or Vice-Captain of National team or b. Holding rank above that of Staff Sergeant (or equivalent) in a uniform group or c. President of ITE Student Council a. Captain or Vice-Captain of a sports team that represents ITE in intertertiary, IVP, POL-ITE tournaments or b. Holding Rank of Staff Sergeant, Sergeant or equivalent in a uniform group or c. Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer of ITE Student Council or d. President or Vice-President of College clubs or e. Team Leader for project groups representing Singapore/ ITE in competitions, conferences etc a. Captain of a sports team that represents the College in inter-ite tournaments or b. Holding Rank of Corporal (or equivalent) in a uniform group or c. Asst. Secretary, Asst. Treasurer, Executive Committee Chairman and Executive Committee members of ITE Student Council or d. Office Bearer of a College academic or sports club / interest group (includes student trainer, choreographer, music leader) or e. Team Leader for project groups representing the College in competitions, conferences etc or f. Captain of a sports team or President of a club / interest group at community level (i.e. community centres, sports club etc) or g. Key appointment holder in Youth Executive Committee a. Vice-Captain of a sports team that represents the College in inter-ite tournaments or b. Holding Rank of Lance Corporal (or equivalent) in a uniform group or c. Section Leader of music group or d. Vice-Captain of a sports team or Vice-President of a club / interest group at community level a. Class representative or b. Captain/Vice-Captain of a sports team that represents the class in interclass tournaments or c. Office Bearer for a club / interest group at community level (i.e. community centres) Points

9 Annex E SERVICE marks awarded are not cumulative but based on the highest level of service provided to a community Requirements a. Participated in a minimum of 50 hours of community service local or overseas (excluding YEP) or b. Participated in minimum 50 hours of community service (local or overseas) for NYAA programme a. Participated in 30 to 49 hours of community service activities or b. Participated in 30 to 49 hours of community service (local or overseas) for NYAA programme a. Participated in 15 to 29 hours of community service activities or b. Participated in 15 to 29 hours of community service (local or overseas) for NYAA programme a. Participated in 10 to 14 hours of community service activities or b. Participated in 10 to 14 hours of community service (local or overseas) for NYAA programme a. Participated in 6 to 9 hours of community service activities or b. Participated in 6 to 9 hours of community service (local or overseas) for NYAA programme Points Note: To be considered a service, the activity must directly benefit community rather than the student. Examples include: Volunteering to help the less fortunate locally for e.g. spending time with the elderly, tutoring needy kids, participating in flag day; volunteering in an overseas community; volunteering to help in worthwhile causes for e.g. the environment like beach cleaning, recycling projects; volunteering in projects to raise awareness for valuable causes for e.g. prevention of animal cruelty, conservation, the environment, social issues etc.

Participate in 6 to 9 hours of enrichment programmes* organised by Student Development, Lifeskills, school or department 1 *Enrichment programmes: personal growth or interest based workshops, awareness programmes, learning visits, field trips, talks, forums, seminars, conferences etc, i.e. separate from CCA related training activities and academic course requirements.

32 The projected marks for each CCA will be displayed (see circle in red). These marks are only projections. Actual marks earned by the student will be displayed in the Confirmed Marks box (see circle in blue). Page 21 of 22

For records which have been saved but have not been verified by the Principal Staff-in-charge (PIC) or Staff-in-Charge (SIC), the Action By Staff column will indicate Not Checked.
