We are committed towards academic improvement in performance and promote socio-cultural welfare not forgetting sporting activities. In this regard, we have proposed the following as our calendar of events. 1. 4 The name of the society shall be: University of Nairobi Education Students Association, hereinafter referred to as UNESA ARTICLE 11: AIMS AND OBJECTIVES Aims and Objectives of UNESA shall be:- (a) To establish an efficient, accountable and transparent organization for students of Education. (b) To promote the general academic welfare of its members and in particular strive to enhance provision and attainment of quality education and champion academic excellence. (c) To encourage the development of worthy traditions especially in matters of academic interest. (d) To liaise and work in close solidarity with other students organizations, societies or clubs and to establish friendly relations with such and other relevant organizations. (e) To improve student-lecturer relationship by trying to develop and enhance mutual confidence and trust among member-students and their lecturers. (f) To publish and distribute a magazine or any other publication in which members can give expression to their views, thoughts, ideas and creative talents. (g) To carry out research in various fields of Education and myriad educational pursuits. (h) To organize symposia (symposiums) and forums which will include presentations, discourse and academic excursions. Page 4 of 14

9 The role of implementing the constitution of Kenya 2010, is a mandate of all Kenyans. Thus, I was given a chance through the office of the Assistant Dean of Students Kikuyu Campus to represent the students fraternity. It is a significant role and am proud of that knowledge I gained on understanding of Katiba and deliver the same to the fellow students about changes in the laws of the country. (photo) PATRICK MATERE UNESA Chairman MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN - UNESA I sincerely take this time to appreciate the Kikuyu Campus students fraternity for having taken their precious time to turn up in large numbers to vote me in as their UNESA Chairman. Further, thanks to the entire community for accepting and cherishing my victory. As a team we hope to focus much on scholarly excellence as stipulated in our core vision. We target Page 9 of 14

10 the propaganda of social equity and negation of social vices amongst them being nepotism and tribalism. This can only be achieved through education of the public which we are the cream tutors. Dear comrades, I beseech you therefore that we may remain goal-oriented academically and shun problem hotspots. Let us appreciate each other and respect each others life and properties. 11 Fridah Syokau Vice-Chairperson UNESA [21] I am Fridah Syokau, the Vice Chairperson UNESA, Kikuyu Campus, a Second Year Student. It is due to the fact that I have the passion of serving people that drove me to vie for the position so as to serve my fellow comrades. This started when I was young and during my primary and secondary school times, I was in position of serving my fellow students as a prefect and therefore felt I should not be left out in Kikuyu Campus. It is in our best interest that women turn out to be better leaders in the future and instill important values in young girls in future. MESSAGE FROM CAMPUS REPRESENTATIVE As the Campus Representative, WOSWA Kikuyu, my aim is to reach out to the young girls and engage them in activities and expose them to events that will empower them.
