4 Envirothon: Environmental competitions where groups of 5 (alternate makes 6) test in different areas of ecology with an addition of a current issue(9-12). Science Fair Plan and compete in school science fair(9-12) Math Counts(7-12) Math solving games and activities Academic Pentathlon: 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students explore ways that math, science, social science, fine arts and literature connect to Africa, and compete at both regional and national competitions. Technology Student Association (TSA). All 7th grade students are members but it is open to State Competition in March and Nationals are in June. Several different types of projects can be done for competition. 5 DaVinci RoboDragons High school teams (9-12) - VEX VRC and Middle school teams (7-8)VEX IQ. Students build and code robots for competition. There are several local competitions that culminate in a state championship and Worlds. Competitions include skills, alliances, autonomous robot coding, engineering notebook, and STEM Science. See Website: Mr. McLaughlin B Meets Wednesday 3:30-5:00. Starts in September There are several competitions that are usually on a Saturday. Green Dragons Conservation Club - Continue to compete to win the platinum Utah Green School award with yearly projects in four different categories: Sustainable facilities, practices, community involvement and education. If you care about the environment and affecting change at school, come join us! Photography Club Meets weekly to explore photographic techniques and technology. Support other after school activities with photography. Field trips and career information about photography-related jobs. ECO Challenge Students address real world environmental challenges on both local and global scales Ms. Herland B Meets Mondays 3:30-4:30 pm. 6 Stage Crew Supports DASA theatrical productions, concerts, film productions, and other events with lighting, sound, set construction, etc. Supports stage crew class, but enrollment in class is not necessary for club membership. Cyber Patriot Is the premier national youth cyber education program created to inspire students toward careers in cybersecurity or other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines critical to our nation s future. Northrop Grumman Foundation is the presenting sponsor. Adam Figueira Mrs. Gray B 3:30-5: B Mondays 3:30-5:00 pm. The study schedule increases as the year goes by and the competitions grow closer. The first competition is online at the school. Academic Decathlon Students study material on the topic selected by the United States Academic Decathlon national office for the year. This year s topic is WWII. Students work to obtain mastery in the following areas: Social Science, Math, Science, Art Music, Economics, and Literature Students also develop skills in the following performance areas: Speech/impromptu Interview Mrs. Davis B The study schedule increases as the year goes by and the competitions grow closer. In September, we will meet two Friday afternoons a month. In October, we will add Saturday study sessions. Mondays and 3:15-4:00 Spring competition
