2 Study Programme Entry Requirements Study Programme Pathway determined by Attainment 8 score Most A Level courses require Grade 5 or above in English Language and two year L3 vocational courses require GCSE Grade 4 or above in English Language Winchmore offers three pathways: Pathway Level Core Aims of Study Programme Entry Requirement ( Attainment 8 GCSE pts) Progression Foundation 1/2/3 Gateway 1 Y12 L1/2 vocational programme + GCSE English/Maths re-sits 18+ (including 2 x 3+ Grades at GCSE) General or Vocational programme at Winchmore/Training Gateway 2 Y12 L2/3 vocational programme + GCSE English/Maths re-sits (including 4 x 3+ Grades) General or Vocational programme at Winchmore/Training Gateway 3 Y12 L2/3 vocational programme + GCSE English/Maths re-sits + possibility of 1 A Level Y A Levels (including 4 x 3+ Grades) When English and Maths retaken and now Grade 4+ Training/employment/HE General 3 3/4 A Levels or 2 A Levels + 1 vocational programme Vocational 3 2+ vocational programmes or 2 vocational programmes + 1 A Level 4 A Levels = 70 Training/employment/HE 3 A Levels = A Levels + 1 Voc. = Training/employment/HE Acceptance onto each post 16 study programmes is dependent on the Attainment 8 GCSE Grades (including English Language & Maths which are double weighted ) Each GCSE Grade is equivalent to a number of points: Grade 9=9, 8=8 etc. For example, at GCSE:! Student A attained 2 7s, 2 6s, 3 5s (including English and Maths) and 1 3 (= 54 pts). This will lead to an offer of a Level 3 General two year programme, beginning with 3 ASs in Y12! Student B attained 2 8s, 5 7s (including English and Maths) and 1 6 (= 71 pts). This will lead to an offer of a Level 3 General two year programme, beginning with 4 ASs in Y12! Student C attained 1 5 (English), 3 3s (including Maths) and 2 2s (= 26 pts). This will lead to an offer of a BTEC L2 Business Foundation programme and a re-sit in GCSE Maths! Student D attained 2 5 s (in English and Maths), 3 4s and 3 3s (= 41 pts) and is very good at Art. This could lead to an offer of a three year Level 2/3 Foundation programme, beginning with a Level 3 CTEC ICT and AS Art in Y12 Most subjects also set a subject specific entry requirement. Please see Subject Specific Requirements. Students who do not meet the specific criteria (e.g gaining a grade 4 in English, not a grade 5, and wishing to study CTEC Business without doing so at KS4) may be considered with a high enough Attainment 8 score.
