U S D O R G / R O B I N S O N / P I B Team News Make sure you are checking Student/Parent Vue for the most up to date grades. Final grades will be posted on May 18. Students will not be allowed to carry bags the last two days of schools. All they need to bring is their notebook and writing instruments. Wednesday is the 8th grade celebration. We will begin in the gym at 9:00 am. Parking around the school will be tight. Summer Homework and School Supply lists are attached to the newsletter . Students will also receive a copy of this in their awards packet that they will receive during the last week of school. We will turned in textbooks and cleaned out lockers on Friday, May 12. Please make sure all textbooks are returned, if they are not turned in, you will be charged for the cost of the book. Ms. Lo Nigro thanks the Pre-IB team for all of Box Tops you turned in this school M A Y 1 2, year! It makes a huge contribution to the program and without your help we wouldn t be able to continue. Also, thanks to you, the adults, for encouraging your students to participate and getting the Box Tops to room 124. Just a reminder, from our PIB Program Agreement: I will schedule medical appointments outside the school day when possible and trips for recreation during school holidays, recognizing that daily attendance is crucial to success. If you are going to be gone you are still responsible for the work you will be missing. We are in the process of enrollment for next year. If you do not plan on returning to Robinson next year, could you please Denise Van Horn (dvanhorn@usd259.net), so that we know how many spots we have available to offer to those students who applied for 7th and 8th grade positions. 2 P A G E 2 Sixth Grade PIB Berry Math This week we will be working on a statistics miniproject about Movie Moguls. Final Exam scores are online and this week we participate, cooperate, and evaluate. I thank you and your child for a great year! Callard -Language Arts As a culminating activity for The Light in the Forest, we are creating trivia games utilizing recycled Candy Land boards and studentcreated comprehension questions. If you happen to have an old Candyland game stuck in a closet that you would like to donate to the cause, please send it before Monday, May 15 th. We also plan to do some fun sentence diagrams during the short week as a wrapup and review of sentence structure and parts of speech. Please continue to read over the summer, and have a relaxing and enjoyable summer break. See you in August! Flores Spanish On Monday students will see the results of the tests they took this week over Chapter 2A. We will spend our remaining time together reviewing previouslystudied vocabulary and grammar through different interactive games. Thank you for allowing me to teach your student. I hope you have a wonderful summer break! Berry Science This week our focus is the moon. We will hand in our notebooks on Monday for the final time. The rest of the week s work will be on worksheets and notebook paper. Please make sure that you strategize with your child about what to carry so that they will have paper, a pen, a pencil, a highlighter and a way to transport assignments. Remember, there are no bags this last week, so please help them think ahead. Thank you for all the smiles, supplies, and support. It s been a terrific year! Callard -Spanish The kids did a great job on our check-up on Spanish accenting rules. We have some fun activities planned for next week with Spanish videos that highlight some of the vocabulary and topics we have covered this year. Please practice reading in Spanish over the summer to maintain skills! Mandelbaum Language Arts Classes will be presenting their holocaust plays and watching a video about a successful escape from a Concentration Camp. Mandelbaum Social Studies Classes will be studying the Middle Ages. On Wednesday we will have an Around the World Tournament covering terms from the entire year. On Tuesday, fifth hour will have a lawyer speak to them about any law questions they have. Unfortunately I could only schedule the speaker for this hour. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to teach your children, this has been a wonderful year! Marsh Spanish The 6 th grade students have been working hard to complete Cap 2A and all of the associated testing. We will celebrate what they ve learned with review games for the last three days of the school year. Any student that hasn t completed their speaking test will do so on Monday. Sinsel Math Math 6 Plus students will finish up the year with our Science Olympiad competition. Have a great summer!

3 P A G E 3 Seventh Grade PIB Flores Spanish Final projects are due on Monday. Students who chose not to do a project will take the cumulative final exam on Monday. Students will present their projects to their classmates on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thank you for allowing me to teach your student. I hope you have a wonderful summer break! Jenney Science For the remainder of the year the seventh graders will be covering human growth and development. Lavacek Language Arts We will finish Midsummer s by presenting our final projects. Marsh Spanish The 7 th grade students have been working hard on their end of year projects. We look forward to seeing what they have accomplished during their project presentations next week. Rowley Social Studies Kansas Reform Movement videos are due at the beginning of class on Monday. We will spend the last three days watching and voting on the winning video for each movement. It has been a great year, and I m looking forward to having these kids again next year for U.S. History! Sims Language Arts Students will present their final projects for A Midsummer Night s Dream on Monday and Tuesday this coming week. It s been a wonderful year, and I look forward to working with everyone again next year! Sinsel Math Math 7 Plus students will take their final test over Systems of Equations next week. Have a great summer! Stroot Math Math 7+ students will finish the year studying systems of equations. Best wishes to all my 7 th grade students for a safe and enjoyable summer. See you next year! Van Horn Math We will be reviewing concepts we learned this year. I have enjoyed having everyone in class, and look forward to having everyone again next year. I am asking that everyone has a graph paper composition notebook for next year.

Please practice reading in Spanish over the summer to maintain skills! Flores Spanish On Monday, students will watch the video for the novel that they just finished reading. On this day they may bring a drink and/or snack to enjoy while they watch the show. They will get their quizzes back over the novel on Tuesday. It has truly been a joy to watch these students grow and progress so much in their ability to communicate in Spanish. Please remind your student to keep it touch! Jenney Science For the remainder of the year the eighth graders will be covering human growth and development. Lavacek Language Arts We will finish Much Ado by modeling our character masks. Rowley Social Studies The U.S. History parodies are due on Monday at the beginning of class. We will spend the rest of our days watching and enjoy their efforts. This has been a wonderful group of kids to teach for two years; best of luck in high school! Sims Language Arts Students will finish performing their scenes from Much Ado About Nothing this coming week. I have immensely enjoyed getting to work with these students for the last two years, and I will miss them greatly! I know they will do great things in high school and beyond! Stroot Math Algebra students will take their final test on Monday, over the quadratic function. Geometry students are done! Van Horn Math The students will take a final on Monday, May 15 over all second semester topics. I have enjoyed having everyone the past two years. Good luck in high school. Best wishes to all my 8 th grade students for a successful high school experience.
