Yearbook: Hey bulldogs, we have been noticing all the pictures you have been taking with your friends during spirit week! Would you like your photographs of March Madness Spirit Week featured in this year s yearbook? If so, please submit your pictures to Room 83 or to Mr. Wrede at bwrede@sjusd.org for consideration. 2 Scholarships! Seniors, there are 7 NEW scholarships added to the scholarship wall in the College and Career Center! Some of the deadlines for the opportunities are coming up soon so stop by today and take a look. CTE Silicon Valley Organization (SVO) is providing 5-6 weeks paid internship during the summer. This internship is available to current CTE students. The companies and organizations that will be hosting interns will primarily be located in Santa Clara County. Past employers include, Comcast, Hilton San Jose, Kaiser Permanente, Silicon Valley Business Journal, and the Valley Transportation Authority, etc. To apply click See Ms. Geeta for more information. Strong Girls, Strong Women The Strong Girls, Strong Women Conference is this Saturday, March 17 th from 8:30-2:30 pm. There will be 10 county departments including ROV, Environmental Health, and Public Health. There is still time to register, if you or anyone you know, is interested in participating, register today! Click here to register: STEM College Gateway Juniors and Seniors, do you want to earn college credits while you are a high school student? Do you want to study Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math? STEM College Gateway will be happening this summer, June 18 th through July 16 th from 9:00 am 3:00 pm at Silicon Valley Career Technical Education (SVCTE). It is open for any Juniors or Seniors, whether you are an SVCTE student or not. First come-first serve. Please see the flyer for more information. To register go to: Cosmetology at SJCC Seniors interested in the Cosmetology Program at SJCC, in addition to your general application, you must fill out an additional application to be admitted to the Cosmetology Program. Students enrolled in the Cosmetology Program have the opportunity to receive instruction in the areas of hair, skin, nail, and solon skills. After completing the program, students can earn a Certificate of Achievement and/or Associate of Science degree. Please see the flyer for more information on an open house and other upcoming events.

The representative from San Jose State University is coming to SJHS on March 23 rd from 10:00-11:00 am in the library, to give a presentation on NEXT STEPS after you have been granted admissions. Whether you have been accepted to SJSU or any other 4 year university. Sign up at the College and Career Center or see Ms. Sosa for more information. UC Berkeley field trip forms are now available! Come pick up a permission slip from Ms. Orozco in the College and Career Center. The field trip will take place on Tuesday, April 3rd. Want to get a summer job or paid internship? Then come to the College and Career Center! There is a list of summer jobs and internships for high school students posted on the scholarship wall outside of Ms. Orozco s office. There is even an internship to work at the San Francisco Airport! Community Colleges Seniors Sign up in the College and Career Center to take advantage of these opportunities SAVE THE DATES: March 22 nd San Jose City Assessment 8:30-12:30 pm March 21 st San Jose City Orientation Day 9:50-12:00 pm March 29 th DeAnza Orientation 10:00-12:00 pm SVCTE 10th and 11 th grade students can now enroll at Silicon Valley Career Technical Education (SVCTE). Go to to complete your application for the school year. Openings are filling fast! Community Service Bulldogs, Empire Gardens has a Family Literacy Night scheduled for Friday, March 30 from 6:00-7:00 pm. They need volunteers to help during the event as well as setting up (starting at 4:30 pm) and prepping for the event on Tuesday and Thursday. If you would like to volunteer for community service hours, contact Melida Pereira at (408) or mpereiramendoza@sjusd.org Bulldogs, Mothers Milk Bank is a non-profit organization that needs help assembling packets, data entry, making phone calls to physicians, and many other tasks.
