2 ATTENTION DUAL ENROLLMENT STUDENTS: Please return your Fall dual enrollment books to the library immediately. These are needed for Spring dual enrollment students. Also, register for Spring classes NOW and bring a copy of your registration form (white and pink) to Mrs. Bainter. Book orders will go in today and Tuesday. After that, books will not be ordered until after the Winter Break. Asian Culture and Entertainment Club (ACE Club) Please join us next Thursday in Mr. Dangler's classroom, room 71, at 3 p.m. for Asian Culture and Entertainment Club. ACE Club seeks to immerse the student body in the culture, language, and history of Asia. We are currently focusing on Korea, China, and Japan next week, and throughout the beginning of next semester. If you have any interest, please stop by. There will be Asian snacks! SAT at Charter: We are offering the SAT Test at our school during school hours!! This test will be given on Wednesday, March 6th. This is a great opportunity to take the SAT in your very own school. You can practice your skills to improve previous scores! The SAT is one of the best ways to show colleges your knowledge and skills. This test is open to ALL grade levels. To register, please take your payment of $50.00 to Ms. Havens in Room 120. Registration deadline and payment has been extended to Thursday, December 20th. Do not miss out on this great opportunity. 3 Now's your chance! We are taking a large group on Friday, May 3rd, 2019 for the 8PM performance. Tickets are $75 each and will include roundtrip transportation to and from the Kravis Center. Tickets are limited. We recommend you sign up as soon as possible. You can bring your payment to Mrs. Havens in Room 120. Spanish Competition Team: Please come out to support the Spanish Competition Team this weekend - If you eat at CHIPOTLE TOMORROW, Saturday, December 8th between 4pm and 8pm - Tell them you are there to support IRCHS Spanish Competition Team! They will donate a portion of your total to our team!!!! Winter Jam Come join the Instrumental Jazz Department this THURSDAY Dec 13th at 6pm under the DOME for the Winter Jam! Come see and hear the stellar bands and musicians perform their hearts out! This is also one of the last cultural events on campus before the Mon. Dec. 14th due date! General admission is $10 adults, $5 students- kids under 5 are free! - Tickets can be purchased at the door. See you there! NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY INFO MEETING TODAT AT 1:30 in the Art Room 500. If you are interested in applying to be a part of our National Art Honor Society here at IRCHS then fill out the NAHS Google form that was ed to all students. The Deadline to apply is Dec. 10 and students will receive an invitation to the induction ceremony (which will be in January) in Homebase on Dec. 14. 4 Did you know the City of Vero Beach has never had its own flag? Submit a flag design via to Mrs. Burke--your design could be chosen for the Centennial Celebration of the City of Vero! IRCHS had 30 students submit individual pieces or Senior Portfolios to the Scholastic Arts and Writing Competition this year. Best of luck!! We will get contest results Feb 1, 2019 on the Scholastic Arts and Writing website. Reminder: Winter Break is around the corner. Remember to start taking all personal items that you have accumulated in your homebase throughout the semester home. Any clothing, shoes, book bags, lunch bags, etc. that are left in your homebase will be taken to goodwill. Key Club: Monday is the last Key Club meeting of the year! Please make sure to come to the Blackbox during lunch! Key Club will also be hosting a Holiday Bake Sale on Thursday December 13th during lunch! Come and purchase some amazing cookies, brownies, and other treats! IRCHS HOLIDAY BASH! Enter a winter wonderland held under the dome TONIGHT, December 7th. Attention Students Homebase Requirements are due for seniors today. Homebase requirements are due for everyone else on 12/14. You must pass Homebase if you wish to remain a student at IRCHS. Each semester, Homebase students are required to complete: a VAPA chore, a cultural event, a government meeting, and volunteer hours. If you have questions about what may or may not count as a Homebase requirement, please consult this website: These requirements are due soon! You cannot miss school to get them done. The deadline is approaching rapidly! Upcoming Government Meetings, and Cultural Events Government Meetings: The IRCHS Board of Directors meets on 12/13 at 3:00 PM. Get your Homebase requirements done! Homebase Blinds on Doors: Students the blinds that are hung on the exterior homebase doors should always be kept in the up position. If these blinds are lowered to cover the windows in your homebase, you inadvertently tear the blind each time you push on the handle to open the door. Please only lower the home base exterior door blinds during a code red. Photographer of the Month Congrats to our first ever Photographer of the Month, Summer Foster. Summer is a sophomore; this is her first year in Photography & has she been taking some incredible photos. She excels in portraits & loves taking photos of her friends. Go see her photo in the VAPA Front Office today & look out for more featured photographers in the new year. Model UN Invite Do you enjoy Debate, World issues, or History? If so, you should join MUN! We attend conferences at colleges and debate real issues from the perspective of different nations. If you are interested, show up to our weekly meetings in room 600 on Thursdays during lunch. We are hosting our very own conference here at Charter on January 12th and attending a University conference at UF on the weekend of January 25th. Be sure to sign up for these conferences to learn more about who we are and what we do. We promise, you won t regret it!!

7 Midterm Exams: During the week of midterms, students with Individual Learning Plans are asked to report to Room 34 (classroom part of the library) instead of the Testing Center (38). Students, please inform your teachers if you are planning to test in Room 34. Students will return to class as soon as they finish their exams. If students need extended time, the testing center will be open from 1-4pm for students to complete their tests. Exams must be finished on the same day that they are taken. All exams will be returned to teachers at the end of each day. END OF SEMESTER EXAMS Below is the format for our end of semester exam schedule: 12/18/ /19/ /20/ /21/2018 Test Day Test Time TUESDAY WEDNESDAY THURSDAY FRIDAY 8:30-10:00 AM Period 1 Period 2 Period 3 Period 4 10:00-11:00 BREAK BREAK BREAK BREAK 11:00 AM-12:30 PM Period 6 Period 7 Period 8 Period 9 Exam schedule basics All classes that have a course code have a slot in the exam schedule. Teachers that choose not to give an exam will still see and supervise their students during the exam time. o One EXCEPTION: Classes that meet periods 10 and 11 will not meet during exams. Courses that do NOT have a course code (Homebase and Intensive Math) will not meet during exams.

8 ***Please Note: This means that courses that previously met less than four times a week (Ex. Senior Seminar and Musical Theatre) and did not see their students during exam week will now see students during exam week.*** Attendance Students do not have to come to school during an exam period if they have break during that period. Teachers will take attendance on paper during exam week and submit to Leti English at the end of each day. Teachers giving an exam will also note absences in the grade comments section in Focus. If a student is absent during an exam period, teachers will note the absence in the comments field of the exam grade. Students that miss an exam due to an absence may take their makeup exam with the teacher during an empty spot on the student's exam schedule or after 12:30. Testing Center ESE/504 students that choose to test in the testing center will have 8:30-4:00 each testing day for the entire exam week. Each teacher must send a testing cover sheet including all students that are eligible to receive ESE/504 testing accommodations and copies of the exam labeled with student name and teacher name to the student support office the day before the exam is to be administered. All ESE/504 student exams will be returned by 4:00 Friday, December 21, Homebase teachers will assist students in understanding the format of the exam schedule and will send any students with questions or concerns to see Nicole Moreaux (room 115) or Jillian Kelly (room 100).

Judging Tear down 10 points are available. Each Homebase will earn 7 points for participating. follows: Friday by Wednesday The additional 3 points will be awarded as v 1 st place in your grade level = 3 points v 2 nd place in your grade level = 2 points v 3 rd place in your grade level = 1 point A 2 point deduction will happen if you fail to take down your decorations by Wednesday 4pm. The Rules: Decorations must follow the theme. Decorations must be appropriate. Do not damage the door or surfaces surrounding your decoration location. v Use only clear tape or mounting putty to attach decorations to the decoration location. v Do not glue anything to the decoration location. v Do not use any material or product that will harm the decoration location.

10 Door decorations may not obstruct access to the room or building. Doors should still be able to open and close. Decorating should not disrupt any classes or teacher work times. All decorations must be removed by 4pm on Wednesday, December 19 th. Have fun and get creative!
