1 MADRAS COLLEGE SPORTS DAY 2017 Thursday 22nd June Station Park 12.30pm start Medals & Trophies presented by Mrs Elaine Methven
2 PRESENTATION OF AWARDS We warmly welcome Mrs Elaine Methven today as guest of Madras College to present the trophies and awards. Elaine is no stranger to Sports Day nor Madras College where she has had a constant connection since her first day in Secondary School at the new Kilrymont Road School in Elaine comes from a sporting family as her father was Madras College Athletic Champion in She met her equally sporty husband Steve at school and all three of their boys Jon, Ross and Mark have attended Madras College with the four boys having played rugby for the school and the FPs for many years. Elaine s personal sporting achievements were in the fields of Hockey and Athletics where she represented the Midlands in her 5 th and 6th year in the former and competed in the Fife Schools in the latter. After her four years of teacher training at Dunfermline College of Physical Education in Edinburgh, she returned to St Andrews to teach from 1977 until her recent retirement in 2016, only taking time off to bring up her family. A constant source of fun, professional efficiency and a caring teacher to generations of pupils, Elaine was a highly regarded member of staff who kept everybody on their toes and was a wealth of information as regards who was who in the school! Elaine easily fills her free time now with her two lovely granddaughters and she takes regular holidays to the Lake District with her extended family enjoying the country walks and having quality time together. We are delighted that Elaine accepted our invitation to present the medals and trophies and we hope she will enjoy the afternoon s sporting competition as well as meeting the staff and pupils of Madras College again. Remember to stop her for a quick chat as we believe Elaine likes a wee blether ;)
