3 The 10-year Priority List In order to offer the most well-rounded and advanced educational experience to students throughout Charles County, schools have been recommended for various levels of work required to bring them into line with 21st-century educational practices. In order to do this, additions, renovations, and new construction have been recommended in ascending order, according need. In some cases, additional capacity is required, while in others, consolidation offers the opportunity to replace older low-capacity buildings with a larger modern facility. The integrated priority list serves as a working draft for planning future projects. The fiscal year included in each project represents the year that a project request will be issued to the state. The integrated priority list includes both major capital projects, denoted by a C-prefix, and yearly maintenance projects, denoted by an M-prefix. Because of the highly variable nature of state project approval, the following list is understood as a living document which will change over the coming years. 45
