3 Graduation Requirements To graduate from our high school the students are required to pass 3 years (15 credits) of science. Successful completion some type of Science Examination(s) will be required of all N.J. high school graduates, eventually.
4 Recommended Sequence At Voorhees we recommend the 3 years of science be Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in that order.
5 Physics First Freshman Year
6 So what level Physics should my child take? The level of Physics that you sign up for is closely tied to the level of mathematics (specifically Algebra) in which your children are capable of being successful. Here is the pattern that the Guidance Counselors follow:
7 661 Physics (5 Credits) Minimum Math requirement: Concurrent Supplemental Algebra and Algebra I
8 662 Physics (CP) (5 credits) Recommend Math Level: Algebra 1Advanced Algebra 1 (CP) or Geometry (CP)
9 663 Physics (H/Wt) (7.5 Credits - Weighted) Recommended Math Level: Geometry (CP) or Geometry (Honors)
10 668 AP Physics 1-2 (10 Credits - Weighted) Recommended Math Level: Honors Geometry or Higher
11 Science in 10 th, 11 th, and 12 th Grade 10 th Grade will be Chemistry (General, CP, Honors or AP) 11 th Grade will be Biology (General, CP, Honors or AP) Over 90% of students take a 12 th grade Science elective or two, like: Human Anatomy and Physiology, Earth Science, Astronomy, Forensic Science, AP Environmental Science, Organic Chemistry, or Behavioral Ecology.
12 A word about the Future New Jersey has adopted the NextGen Science standards. They have an official start of September We will be phasing them in starting next year. Please know that we are actively articulating with the sending districts on this issue.

14 Graduation Requirements 15 credits of Mathematics These 15 credits include Algebra 1, Geometry, and a third year of math that builds on the concepts and skills of Algebra and Geometry.
15 Math Course Selections Supplemental A1 Lab Algebra 1 Advanced Algebra 1(CP) Geometry (CP) Geometry (H/wt.)
16 Supplemental Algebra 1 Lab Currently enrolled in pre-algebra, doing below average work. Is not confident in their basic skills and needs to master these skills in order to be successful in Algebra 1 This course is taken concurrently with the Algebra 1 (510) course. Learns better with a hands-on approach.
17 Algebra 1 Currently enrolled in pre-algebra, doing average work. Currently enrolled in an algebra class, having extreme difficulty. PARCC-tested course.
18 Advanced Algebra 1 (CP) Currently enrolled in pre-algebra; Doing above average work. Currently enrolled in an algebra class, testing at a C not completely mastering the content. Currently enrolled in algebra, doing fine, but the class will not complete the entire algebra 1 curriculum. PARCC-tested course.
19 Warning!!! Move on to Geometry only when you are CERTAIN you have mastered Algebra! Algebra is
20 Geometry CP Currently enrolled in algebra course which will complete the required curriculum. Doing okay; Testing at the B level; Quizzing at the A or B level. Confident with their Algebra skills. PARCC-tested course.
21 Honors Geometry (Weighted) Doing excellent; Testing consistently at the A or B level. Enjoys the challenges of projects. Capable of doing independent work. Currently enrolled in an Algebra course which will complete the required curriculum. PARCC-tested course.
