5 Dan Klett completed hi eventh year a the IHSA Board Preident A Letter from the Board Preident Thi letter come at the concluion of my eventh year erving on the ihsa Board of director, and will ultimately be my lat erving a the Board Preident, a poition i have held for the pat five year. i have every expectation of erving my final year on the Board, but feel it time to allow another capable member of our Board of director to erve in the Preident role in The chool year wa a year of change at the ihsa, a dr. hickman handed off the baton to craig Anderon a the ihsa eventh Executive director in January. One of the great thing about thi Board i that, jut like in education, there i an evolution of idea and opinion. Turnover on the Board be it from election, term limit or individual changing job or retiring bring in new blood and new idea. with craig acenion to the top pot, i thought it would be a fitting time to alo pa my proverbial baton and allow another individual to tart freh a Board Preident alongide craig. One of my final dutie a the Board Preident wa overeeing the Executive director hiring, and i am pleaed to ay that we had many quality candidate not only from here in illinoi, but from all over the country. Ultimately, both myelf and the Board agreed that craig progreive leaderhip, demeanor, and undertanding of the ihsa miion, rule, and procedure made him the bet candidate to lead the ihsa. craig i the ihsa Executive director, but the thing i have learned erving on thi Board i that it i the member chool who truly lead the ihsa. A good example i the forthcoming tranition to two clae in the Boy & girl Tenni State Serie. Thi proce began with a imple preentation by chicago chritian Athletic director Eric Brauer and turned into month of reearch and data collection from coache and adminitrator. Tenni cla expanion had many upporter and detractor believe me when i tell you i heard from both and ultimately, the Board deliberated all factor before making a deciion they felt wa in the bet interet of high chool tenni in illinoi. it ha been an honor to erve the tudent and chool in illinoi a the ihsa Board Preident. i have been faced with many challenge, but alo, far more rewarding experience that i am very proud to ay i wa a part of. i will continue to erve my final year on the Board and will continue to upport the ihsa a a high chool principal in year to come.
