9 Master Planning - Outreach Master plan review meetings were held with the Steering Committees and Working Groups throughout the process. Final review meetings were held in February and March Master plan presentations were made to the Building and Grounds Committee of the Board of Trustees on 11 July 2006, 3 October 2006, 19 December 2006,and27 February A presentation of the master plan was made to the Committee on Planning and Priorities on 28 February A presentation of the master plan was made to the Facilities Planning Council on 7 March 2007 and on February 6, A presentation of the master plan was made to the President s s Advisory Council on 21 March Campus open forum presentations on the master plan were held on the 28 th and 29 th of March Comments received at the open forums were considered for inclusion in the master plans. 9

10 Campus Community Open Forum Two Open Forum sessions were held in March 2007, to present the master plans to both the campus community and to Ewing Township. Several questions and comments were received from the audience at the Open Forums. The common questions and comments are summarized on the following slides. 10

11 Open Forum Comments & Responses 1 Are provisions being made for public and community spaces in new or renovated residence halls? Yes, the Office of Residential and Community Development will consider common space for a variety of functions in new and renovated residence halls. Although only the student apartments project is actually in design, these features will be considered for future projects. The Brower Student Center and athletic/recreation facilities do not appear to be included in either master plan. What is the plan for these areas? The Brower Student Center was purposely left out of the planning until some additional thought could be given to its future use. Student Affairs is currently developing program needs for the Brower Student Center as well as for athletics and recreation. This information will be added to the master plan when the Student Affairs planning is completed. What will happen to those departments or buildings that are not included in the current Academic / Administrative master plan? As the master plan was intended to build upon the 2001 framework plan and the priorities set by that initiative, the current master plan proceeded after verification that these are still priorities. For buildings and departments not included in the master plan, restoration projects are being developed inaseparateassetrenewalplantodealwithmajormaintenance, preservation and renewal of these existing facilities. Program and/or mission based requests should be submitted via the Fiscal Year project request process. 11

12 Open Forum Comments & Responses 2 Faculty are worried that the demolition of the Forcina wing will result in a shortage of large lecture halls and classrooms. Although the working group initially determined that this would not be a problem, the planning team has since gathered information on the occupancy and utilization of these rooms. The master plan, as presented at the Open Forum, did not replace the large lecture halls in theforcinawing until the New Academic Building was opened in Fall The master plan has been revised to address the concerns that were expressed at the Open Forum. 12
