7 Instrumental Band and Non-Band Students Each student who plays an instrument will have two periods of instrumental band class in a six-day cycle. This allows for small-group lessons. Period 4 or 6 HRE period There will be two concerts Winter Concert and 2018 Spring Concert. Students who have not selected an instrument will split their time between music and art classes (during period 4 or 6), and will attend HRE.

10 Lunch Lunch is from 11:22 am 11:55 am each day. Students will eat with their classes for part of the year. They will engage in discussions and role-play to understand what it s like to mix-it-up and sit with other children from other classes. We will have a few mix-it-up days

11 Recess Recess is from 11:55 am 12:12 pm each day Students are welcome to join recess activities which include: Green Key Student Council Chess (Sponsored by the PTA) Yoga (Sponsored by the PTA) Graphic Design (Sponsored by the PTA) Sports (Sponsored by the PTA) The Green Team Student Newspaper

12 Arrival and Dismissal Students report to the Old Gym by 8:20 am. After that, they are dismissed to their lockers. Early morning drop-off at 7:45 am. Students will be supervised and at 8:10 am will be escorted to the Old Gym to meet their 5 th grade peers. Students are dismissed by their homeroom teacher. The teacher will escort students to either: Old Gym (Bus) Lower Lot (N.B.S.) Main Entrance (Pick-Up) Students will follow the same procedures regarding changes in dismissal as the K-4 students.

13 Locks and Lockers Students should get a MASTER lock over the summer and practice their combination. Students will be assigned a locker on the first day of school by their homeroom teacher. Students will not be coming in early to decorate their locker. Students will be allowed to come after school once school is in session to decorate their locker - as long as they are supervised by an adult! We STRONGLY encourage students NOT to give out their combination. Students go to the lockers 4 times during the day. Any time other than those times requires a pass.

14 Class Assignments and Schedules Class assignments (Homeroom teacher assignment) will be available on the Parent Portal in approximately mid-august. Students will receive schedules on the first day of school. (Their homeroom teachers will go over their six-day cycle.)

15 Beginning of School Labor Day NO SCHOOL Monday, September 4th First Days of School September 5th and 6th Students stay with homeroom class Students attend Specials classes Attend 5 th Grade Orientation Meeting Students will follow their regular schedule on Thursday, September 7th
