1 EF Bournemouth Junior courses We have junior intakes January- February and June- August for individuals. Closed groups are welcome year-round. Note; between 4th July 20 August 2011 We have a separate junior school. The Freemasons Hall, Knole Road, Boscombe, BH1 4DH Some mixed-age groups may study at the year-round school depending on classroom availabilty.

2 Junior Course information Juniors must be a minimum of 13 years old. All students aged years must be booked on a Junior Course. Lunch and single and return transfers are compulsory. Students aged 16 years old can be booked onto a Junior Course but they will be subject to the same supervision and curfew rules as other juniors. In exceptional circumstances we may accept 17 year olds on junior courses if they are part of junior groups. Any year olds who want to change from a junior course to an adult course must have the written permission of their parents and the course change can only be authorised by the School Director.

3 Junior Course information A Junior Course consists of 20 lessons per week. These are timetabled in the morning and afternoon (No ilabs or SPINS.) Accommodation available in homestay twin room or residence (please see residence information on globalnet.) Internet access, free access to Efekta ilab and progress tracker. Course certificate and EFCELT report.

4 EF Bournemouth Junior Activities What s included in the junior course? One EF excursion This is one excursion to London Includes walking tour taking in all the main sights. River cruise taking in Tower Bridge. Note for sales office staff; you do not need to enter any article in Poseidon junior students receive this excursion automatically.

The standard Fun Pack One fun activity per week chosen from the following; bowling, oceanarium, Bournemouth sightseeing bus and laser quest. Daily supervised activities (please see next slide.) Note for sales office staff; you do not need to enter any article in Poseidon junior students receive the fun pack automatically.

11 Time Example of a junior schedule Activity If juniors don t want to return to host family or residence immediately they are allowed free time eg to walk to local shops, or play sports with friends. In summer there is often an EF activity at 4pm such as beach volleyball Compulsory dinner with host family or at residence Optional evening activity begins: Free; EF Discos, Sports, Games, Film Night 3-10 per activity; e.g. Cinema, Pottery, Salsa, Paintball etc. Students not on an evening activity are supervised by their host family or residence staff. They must ask for permission if they want to go out unsupervised e.g. to see an early film at the cinema, walk to local shops or play sports with friends CURFEW TIME. Students must be back at their Host Family or Residence.

12 Example of a junior schedule Saturdays Attendance of an excursion or activity is compulsory. All students will receive their inclusive London excursion and many students will have pre-booked additional discovery packs. Students with an empty schedule can buy an excursion in the activities office or alternatively join a supervised EF activity in Bournemouth. Sundays If students do not have a pre-booked excursion they can buy one in the activities office. Alternatively they can have a free day in Bournemouth with their host family or residence supervisor. If students want to go out unsupervised they must ask for permission and give details of where they are going and with whom.

13 EF Bournemouth Summer Junior Centre Built in 1872 the Freemasons Hall is a Masonic Lodge with character and history. Up to 11 classrooms with a capacity of 350 students Extensive outside area for games and relaxation Internet on site Situated on an excellent bus route for easy travel to and from host families. A short bus journey from summer residences and the main school - approx 20 minutes. Buses every 5 minutes. Weekly bus ticket minutes walk to the park, 10 minutes walk to beach.

14 Action packs available for juniors in groups with leaders. Individuals can pay in Bournemouth and play privately in their free time. Surfing on Europe s first artificial surf reef. 2 hours of lessons and 4 hours of practice sessions, all equipment included. Tennis in Bournemouth Gardens. 2 hours of lessons and 4 hours of court time. Golf at Bournemouth s Meyrick park. 2 hours of lessons plus 2 rounds of golf.
