Amy Daniels Natalie Graham Samaire Haase Jessie Knight Emily Martin Vicki Patterson Samantha Payne Kim Pollock Caitlin Taylor Spammy Lee Thompson Tegan Woodland The girls participated in the program with the guidance of a number of female police officers who acted as mentors. The girls worked in small groups with their mentors on a project. Each group and their mentors did a presentation on Friday in front of invited guests and family. Each group did a great job and there were a wide range of projects to support including the RSPCA, homeless people and sick children at the hospital and awareness about self harm. Well done girls. Congratulations to Chloe Besgrove, Kirra Wilson and Jessica Daniels for winning Skip the Line passes for the Canteen. PRIDE Day It s on Friday. Congratulation to all attendees. Position Vacancy Apprenticeships Qld have a position available for a student who is interested in carpet laying as a trade. There are seeking someone with a genuine interest who is willing to stick with it and learn the full trade. They would like to trial someone over these school holidays as some travel and time away from home is required. ie 2 weeks in Goondiwindi and 2 weeks in Ipswich and surrounding areas. After the trial period there is the potential for either a school based apprenticeship or a full time opportunity. Students will need to have a white card (which can be obtained online from Blue Dog Training) and a pair of white soled shoes. Please contact Mr Ben Ward at the school or Di Hockins from Apprenticeship Qld on for more information. Year 11 & 12 On Friday June 26, 2015 any Year 11 and 12 students with outstanding assessment will be required to attend school to complete their assessment. All senior students will be organised into classrooms to work independently on allocated assessment work. Failure to submit any assessment item by the end of Term Two could possibly result in an At Risk of Cancellation notification being sent home with students asked to show cause as to why they should remain a Bremer student in Our commitment to quality outcomes through student engagement is of upmost important and completion of all assessment items is mandatory at Bremer State High. All students have been advised on Bremer s assessment policy and this information regarding last day of term have been spoken about on assembly and in classrooms. Students, who have completed all assessment items by Friday June 26, will not be required at school and will be given an assessment task in hard copy that should be worked on at home on Friday. The team at Bremer are committed to assisting our students achieve success through academic engagement and we appreciate your cooperation. Good luck with assessment to all Year 11 and 12 students. Mr Ashley Richters

A SAT will allow students typically in Years 11 and 12 to study for their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE), work for an employer and earn a wage, and train towards a recognised vocational qualification, while completing high school. Students in Year 10 may also do a SAT. Depending on the qualification and when the SAT is started, many students can complete a school-based traineeship while at school and schoolbased apprenticeship provides a head start into a full-time or part-time apprenticeship and career. We will now be including with our newsletter a list of currently advertised school-based traineeship positions. Information on advertised positions can also be sourced by students at school through the Student Intranet > Traineeships tab or through daily student notices. If students need help with a resume, you can refer to: careers/applying for jobs/how to write a resume If students need help writing a cover letter, you can refer to: careers/applying for jobs/how to write a cover letter Any further enquiries can be directed to: Mr Benjamin Ward Dean of Students - Year 11/Head of Senior Schooling (Vocational Pathways) Article 2 includes 1 flyer G:\Coredata\Curriculum\Learning Area - VET and Senior Schooling\Register of Documents - VELG\USI\Fact Sheets and Help\Poster-option-1-text-only.pdf UNIQUE STUDENT IDENTIFIER Students continue to create their USI s and provide them to the school however there are still many that have not. All students in years 10, 11 and 12 who are enrolled in a VET Certificate course will need to have a USI in order to be issued a printed Certificate of Completion or Statement of Attainment for their achievements. A USI can be created by going to and following the prompts to create a USI. The process takes minutes and there is no cost involved. All that is required is adequate identification such as a birth certificate or Medicare card. Students not able to create a USI at home are welcome to bring their identification details to school where they will be assisted in creating their USI. More information about the Unique Student Identifier can be obtained from and assistance at school can be found from Mr Ward or Mrs Edyvean in the U Block staff centre.
