Registration begins March REVELATION ONLINE SUMMER HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM We are an online high school, using multimedia-based, interactive courses, which offer a new experience compared to a traditional classroom setting. Our Learning Management System (Desire2Learn) provides you with the total educational experience using a wide range of online tools. The online approach offers flexibility with web-based access anytime, anywhere! Each course has a dedicated instructor to answer all your questions and help in your success. Our goal is to provide courses that enhance the program of studies to ensure students have a positive transition to the next level of their studies. Grade 12 students needing Physical Education 10 or any CTS courses for graduation should contact Revelation Online for specific information. Please check for course availability. 6 REVELATION ONLINE Revelation offers a unique approach to online learning in that students can participate in a virtual classroom where they, their fellow students and their teachers collaborate during the scheduled delivery of their courses. As well, students can select an independent method of course delivery. The program offers students an opportunity to take one or two courses or to enroll as a full-time student. Revelation Online offers a full high school program. 7 academic PROGRAMS CARDINAL COLLINS HIGH SCHOOL ACADEMIC CENTRE Find Your Hope Through a Journey of Faith WHAT IS CARDINAL COLLINS HIGH SCHOOL ACADEMIC CENTRE? Cardinal Collins High School Academic Centre is our District centre for high school upgrading and completion. The centre is located within the Clareview Recreation Centre and easily accessible via the LRT northeast line. Cardinal Collins students enjoy all amenities that the Recreation Centre has to offer as well as an adult learning environment. Cardinal Collins' Ascension program is designed for students who are in their 4 th or 5 th year of high school. Students may need to upgrade a course grade or take a course for the first time. Our students can also complete any Alberta High School Diploma requirements that they are missing to graduate. Our students have full access to academic counselling. Our primary goal is to help you on your post-secondary or career path. A Cardinal Collins student: Has attended a regular high school for three years Is 19 years of age or under on September 1 st of the school year you are planning to attend Is focused and motivated to meet their post-secondary and career goals Is working on the course for the first time or repeating course work WHAT PROGRAMS ARE OFFERED AT THE CENTRE? Ascension classroom based Grade 12 core high school completion for students in their 4 th and 5 th year of high school English language learning (ELL) instruction for students who are in their 4 th and 5 th year of high school (Levels 1 5) YMCA Daycare Counsellor on site Student Support Centre - Grad Coach and career development - Post-secondary student recruitment in house and partnerships - Learning Coach for additional academic support - Academic and personal counselling - Mental Health Therapists and Family Social Liaison Workers available WHAT DOES THE ASCENSION PROGRAM LOOK LIKE AT CARDINAL COLLINS? Cardinal Collins schedules all diploma subject courses around the November, January, April and June diploma exams. In an intensive 8 week quarter program, students are able to complete the Program of Studies in the course they are registered in enabling a mid-semester diploma write. This works great for students who want to attend post-secondary second semester. Classes are also set up for students who wish to take the entire semester to finish a course. Students at CCHSAC can: Complete course work on-line Follow a self-directed learning model Receive full classroom instruction 6

8 OUR LADY OF GRACE PROGRAM (OLOG) For Pregnant and Parenting Teens Our Lady of Grace provides mobile and individualized services for pregnant or parenting teens (female and male): We come to you and provide assistance to you right at your community school. Our staff assesses every student to see what her or his needs are. Services are provided based on those needs. Educational alternatives are available for students experiencing difficulty in a regular school setting. Personalized counselling for students and their families is available. We provide weekly parent support groups, pre-natal and post-natal courses and referrals to community agencies. We will meet with any student, parent or teacher at any Edmonton Catholic School regarding issues related to pregnancy and parenting. 9 support information INDIGENOUS LEARNING SERVICES Our services are diverse but our mandate is clear. A healthy body, mind, spirit and emotions of our First Nations, Métis and Inuit students are a District priority. We are here to support schools in a holistic approach to educating our First Nations, Métis and Inuit youth. Indigenous Learning Services is a place where we honour education and celebrate Indigenous culture. Achieving a high standard of student success is a priority within our District. We have taken a leadership role in Alberta in promoting Most Promising Practices. We offer a wide range of services that include: Indigenous Curriculum Consultants Braided Journeys program Council of Elders Scholarships Student and Family Crisis Response Community Development ONE WORLD ONE CENTRE One World... One Centre welcomes students and families newly arrived in Canada to Edmonton Catholic Schools. The wrap around supports include; assistance with registration, assessment of English language, Intercultural staff, English as a Second Language consultants, International Student Services, Mosaics Early Learning program, Community Engagement Coordinator and LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada). Families newly arrived in Canada are encouraged to call One World... One Centre at One World... One Centre is open all year long to welcome these families. LINC offers both daytime and evening English language instruction for newcomer adults. Please call for information. 11 general program information GENERAL PROGRAM INFORMATION Summer School, PASS & Diploma Preps Prerequisites All Programs Alberta Education regulations regarding prerequisite courses apply to all programs. These regulations specify that a student must have a pass standing (ie. 50% or higher) in the prerequisite course in order to continue with the series. If you register for a course without prerequisite standing, you will be withdrawn from the course without a refund of the Technology User or Program Fees. SUMMER SCHOOL ATTENDANCE Classroom-Based Attendance Full attendance is crucial. Students will not be allowed to start at a later date, end early or write final exams early to accommodate holiday plans. Students cannot have more than two absences for a 5 credit course or one absence for a 3 credit course. If these absences occur, students will be automatically withdrawn from their course. Self-Paced Attendance Attendance must be regular and consistent in order to complete the course. Students must attend the first 5 days in order to finalize registration. If 50% of the course is completed, this requirement can be waived by the site coordinator. Please do not plan on taking holidays or on working full-time during summer school. Students are expected to hand in work on a regularly scheduled basis. Withdrawals PASS program withdrawals must be made in person at the PASS location the student is registered at. All Technology User fees are Non-Refundable after registration. Only the.00 will be refunded upon the return of textbook/material in satisfactory condition. Course Change/Transfer Fees All Programs There is an additional $20.00 processing fee per course for changing or transferring a course. Refunds All Programs Alternative Education reserves the right to cancel any class where the minimum enrollment is not met. A full refund will be issued for any course cancelled by Alternative Education. All Technology User and Program fees are Non-Refundable after registration or upon withdrawal. Only the.00 will be refunded upon the return of textbook/material in satisfactory condition. Inappropriate behavior or damage to school property will result in the immediate dismissal of the student. Refunds will not be issued. Diploma Exams All Programs Students who are writing a diploma for the first time will be registered for their diploma exam through their Summer School or PASS site. Students who are re-writing* or are registering late for a diploma exam must register for a mypass account with Alberta Education. mypass is a secure self-service website for students to access information about their education. Go to mypass.alberta.ca to register or for assistance call the mypass help desk at *Please note: Students who are re-writing their exam must pre-pay for the exam online via your mypass account. 10
