The football team and cheer team made a whopping 475 sandwiches in which Streetfire passed out. Karla from Streetfire advised that they passed out all 475 of the sandwiches to some very hungry and very grateful folks! 2 Message from the Health Office A few friendly reminders: If your child has been diagnosed with a condition needing antibiotic treatment (i.e. strep throat, pink eye, etc.), please be sure they receive the antibiotic for 24 hours prior to returning to school. Also, children need to be symptom free for 24 hours (i.e. from fever, vomiting, diarrhea) prior to returning to school. Please be sure to call the main office or nurse s office if your child is going to be absent/tardy. Research clearly shows that children who eat well, learn better. Breakfast is an important part of a child s education those who eat a good breakfast focus better, feel better, and learn better. 3 Message from the Library Media Center Happy Holiday Season! In this portion of the newsletter we will be informing you of learning resources, new books, reading programs, research projects, tech tips and other news. We will be using Common Sense Media as a platform for Parents and/or Guardians of the latest news and advice in this modern age of technology. Holiday Movie Guide for Families and Teens From big-budget spin-offs for tweens and teens to animated musicals for kids, use our guide to decide which movies will -- and won't -- be on your family's wish list. 4 In the month of November, the Cromwell High School Student Council has put on many events both within the school, as well as, outside. Some of these events include a can food drive, in which the students at Cromwell High School brought in 138 canned goods between November 3rd and November 10th for Town Hall to make Thanksgiving baskets. Next, at the Parent Teacher Conferences, the Scholarship committee had a Bake sale on both nights (November 7th and 10th) that raised over $200 in total to be put towards the four Student Council scholarships. Another event that was held by the Student Council was the trip to the Capitol, in which State Representative Christie Carpino allowed the Student Council to hold a meeting in one of the committee rooms, making the Cromwell High School Student Council the first Student Council in Connecticut to ever hold a meeting in the Capitol building. After that came the Cromwell High School Talent Show which was on November 28th, in addition to a Senior Dinner and a ECS/WIS PTO Babysitting event which all happened on the same evening. Although there were several events taking place at the same time, all events went extremely well. The Talent Show exceeded its quota by making $1,475 that will be used to buy toys for underprivileged children that will be attending the Annual Holiday party. In addition, this money will help in funding the food and arts and crafts at the event. Lastly, the Student Council offered to babysit for an event that was held on November 21st at the high school. Student Council is here to help our school and community! Upcoming events: PLEASE note that any time a student at Cromwell High School would like to volunteer for an event that the Student Council is involved in, they are able to do so by reaching out to any Student Council member or the Executive Board to receive community service. PLEASE NOTE: You DO NOT need to re-register your card if your school selection(s) remains the same as last year. To participate: Visit and scroll down to the center of the page to select REGISTER YOUR CARD from the red box on the right marked FOR CUSTOMERS; or, Call the A+ School Rewards Hotline at for assistance; or, the A+ Hotline. To earn points: Use your registered STOP & SHOP CARD each time you shop at Stop & Shop, and you will earn CASH for our school. You can track the number of points you are earning for our school by checking your grocery receipt. At the end of each month, your points are calculated and converted to CASH rewards for our school. These CASH rewards are updated monthly on the Stop & Shop A+ website beginning in November. After the last day of the 2017 program, which is March 17, these same conversions are performed and the final school account total is posted. Our school will receive one CASH awards check at the end of the program to be used toward Project Safe Graduation. Also, please encourage your family members and friends to support our school.
