6 Objectives and tasks of UEEIV UEEIV supports activities of each national association organizes in conferences and congresses, symposiums and exhibitions in cooperation with the national associations provides contacts between railway engineers, railway companies and the industry represents the interests of railway engineers and railway industry in the areas of politics and the public supports associations, railways and the railway industry by providing information about politics, economy and technology supports training and development of engineers through certification of european railway engineer can compile dossiers

7 UEEIV is especially active in the following areas: Technology and interoperability Optimized maintenance of infrastructure Technologies for the promotion of interoperability of trains Operation and management Organisation and management-development for the modernisation of railways Training and development of human resources especially for the interoperability of trains Consulting Analysis of roi (return on invest) Cooperation in feasibility studies

8 Seminars In the last 13 years UEEIV has held international railway industry seminars most of all in Eastern Europe. Since then around 60 two-day seminars have been organised with participation of participants from railway companies from all over Europe at each event. At this opportunity contacts have been made very succesfully between the general directorate, the authorities in charge for infrastructure policy and the companies. Moreover additional meetings of the supporting members and the presidency with lectures adressing urgent issues take place continually.

9 Certification European Railway Engineer (EURAIL-ING) offers opportunities for different interest-groups Certification should for the railway engineers be a motivator for their personal development, be proof of skills for trained personnel, offer better chances for employ, improve their chances for a professional career and improve their professional mobility within Europe. for the railway authorities and -companies offer security and accountability during the selection and assignement of contracts to outsiders. for the companies of the railway industry and -economy better chances during invitations to tender through proof of qualified personnel securing a high-quality performance and serve as criteria for the process of hiring railway engineers for the colleges and universities: prompt them to offer a equally high qualification of railway engineers, which takes into account the european development.
