Through September 3 Catlin s North American Indian Portfolio Summer exhibition featuring 31 hand-colored lithographs from George Catlin s North American Indian Portfolio, one of the most prolific color plate books relating to North America s Native population produced in the 19 th century. Exhibition made possible through the generosity of Valerie and Jack Guenther. Tuesday, July 18 6:30pm Briscoe Summer Film Series: Women of the West SUGGESTED DONATION: $5 Meek s Cutoff (2011/104min./PG) Set in 1845, this drama follows a group of settlers as they embark on a long journey along the Oregon Trail. When their guide leads them astray, the expedition is forced to contend with the unforgiving conditions on the high plains desert. Food truck, free popcorn and beer! 9 UPCOMING EVENTS 2018 January San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo Student Art Show An exhibition of the top 25 entries from the Stock Show and Rodeo s annual Student Western Art Contest, which recognizes outstanding high school student artists, with a focus on traditional western art. January 30 - February 11 Pony Express Love Letters Visitors create a handwritten letter, compose a sonnet on our vintage typewriter, or fill in a Valentine s Mad Lib for a special loved one. Our modern day Pony Express riders (bicycle volunteers) hand-deliver the letters to recipients in the downtown area, or letters are mailed outside the delivery area. Letter materials and delivery/postage are free. March 23 & 24 Night of Artists Art Sale & Reception Opening Weekend TICKETED EVENT This annual art showcase features live music, cocktails, food, and the opportunity to purchase over 270 new works of art by 70 of the country s top Western artists. This is the Briscoe s largest fundraiser. March 25 - May 6 Night of Artists Public Exhibition Now in its 17 th year, this exhibition showcases over 270 new works of art from 70 of the country s top Western artists. All art on exhibition is available for purchase. February - April Native Film Series A showcase of films that feature diverse Native voices, stories, and perspectives.
