All EMT classes (EMS 110, 115, 118, 120) must be taken and completed in one EMS 230 ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) 1 semester. All of these classes must be completed with a grade of 80% or higher and students EMS 231 PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) 1 must pass the final FISDAP exam with a 76% or higher to be eligible to take the National EMS 232 PHTLS/ITLS 1 Registry Examination for Emergency Medical Technician. EMS 233 CPR - Instructor 1 EMS 282 Field Capstone 3 A GPA of 2.0 must be earned on all EMS classes and a cumulative GPA of 2.0 must be maintained EMS 284 Skill Lab III 2 in order to continue in the program. 2 Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Application Deadlines EMT Courses are offered in the fall and spring of each year. Fall Application Deadline: July 15th Spring Application Deadline: December 1st Paramedic Technology Program Application Cycle The Paramedic Technology Program with EMT is offered in the Fall of each year. Grunett, MBA, NR-Paramedic The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is the entry level patient care provider trained to provide basic life support in ambulances, security positions, law enforcement and in a variety of other settings. EMT certification is required to advance to the higher levels of EMS, the AEMT Course and Paramedic Technology program. Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Course Prerequisites 1. Admission to Bismarck State College. ( a. Apply as "Pre-Paramedic Technology" or as "non-degree seeking". b. Check Campus Connection to ensure all of your "To Do List" items have been completed. Students cannot be admitted to the EMT course if they are not admitted to BSC due to an incomplete Admissions file. 2. The EMS/Paramedic Program requires placement assessments in English and Reading. The assessment will be waived if you have taken college level English (course must transfer in as ENGL 110). 3. Complete application packet for EMT Course must be submitted to EMS/Paramedic Program Director, 500 E. Front Avenue, Suite 206, Bismarck, ND Complete application packets include the following items - incomplete packets will not be reviewed until complete: a. Application to the Emergency Medical Services - EMT Course. b. Valid driver's license (please provide copy). 4. Completed CastleBranch Compliance Tracker ( ($153 - student expense) a. AHA Healthcare Provider BLS/CPR (please provide copy - cannot expire during class). b. Background/Exclusions Check i. No felony convictions. Misdemeanors will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. ii. Multiple entities checked. c. Vaccinations: i. Completed Hepatitis B vaccination series - all 3 shots must be complete. ii. Two (2) negative Tuberculosis skin tests (TB-Tine Test) or negative TB Titer or negative chest x-ray. iii. Two (2) Varicella vaccinations or positive Varicella Titer. (We cannot accept a statement or doctor note stating that you have had chickenpox.) iv. Current year Influenza vaccination. v. Two (2) MMR vaccinations or a positive Rubella Titer, a positive Rubeola Titer and a positive Mumps Titer. vi. Current Tetanus (Tdap or DTaP) vaccination. d. 12 Panel Drug Screen i. Will be completed upon the Program Director's request and forms are available only from the Program Director. 5. Successful completion of interview process with EMS/Program Director. 6. After acceptance to both BSC and EMT course: a. You are required to complete program orientation and registration. There is no registration for EMT courses prior to this day. We will schedule this orientation and registration day after acceptance to the course.
3 Paramedic is the most advanced level of prehospital patient care provider, trained in both basic and advanced life support. Paramedics typically work in ground and air ambulances, however, Paramedics often work in hospitals or in safety positions in other industries. The EMT certification is required prior to entry into the Paramedic Technology Program. Paramedic Program Prerequisites 1. Admission to Bismarck State College. ( a.
