ARTICULATION AGREEMENT AND TRANSFER GUIDE University of North Dakota and Spokane Falls Community College
ARTICULATION AGREEMENT University of North Dakota and Spokane Falls Community College University of North Dakota (UNO) and Spokane Falls Community College (SFCC) have agreed to form an alliance to provide a college aviation program at Spokane, WA. These institutions now enter into an Articulation Agreement according to the following articles: 1. This agreement is based upon the transfer information as contained in the current UNO Undergraduate and Graduate Catalog. and refers to the accompanying transfer information which identifies specific SFCC courses which will transfer to UNO as equivalent courses to be used to meet the requirements for a four-year aviation degree from UNO. 2. Programs and the corresponding curriculums are dynamic documents, and will change from time to time. Therefore, it is agreed that the transfer information that accompanies this agreement should be reviewed, and updated if necessary, at intervals coinciding with the publishing of the Catalogs from the respective institutions. The University of North Dakota reserves the right to revise programs, courses, or other academic requirements as deemed appropriate by the faculty and administration. 3 UNIVERSITY OF NORTH DAKOTA DEGREE PROGRAMS Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics - Air Transport Commercial Aviation Flight Education Air Traffic Control Aviation Systems Management
INTRODUCTION The University of North Dakota takes pride in being a traditional liberal arts university. However, the university aggressively pursues the development of new programs and the implementation of modern technology. Because of the record of achievement that has been established over 30 years, many consider UND to be the leading collegiate aviation education institution in the nation, and even the world. The Department of Aviation enters into articulation agreements with other qualified institutions which are capable of meeting UND standards for a quality aviation education experience. Students may transfer from established two year programs and matriculate into an appropriate UND aviation degree program. It is the purpose of the faculty and staff of the University of North Dakota to insure that graduates are academically, professionally, and technically competent in their chosen fields. It is with this purpose in mind that UND produces this transfer guide. This material should be used by faculty, guidance counselors, academic counselors, students and parents as a reference to help prepare for the transition from a SFCC program of study to a UND undergraduate degree program. SFCC students should refer to the appropriate UND Catalog under "New Undergraduate Student Information", "Admission of Transfer Students", for a detailed explanation of the transfer policy of the University of North Dakota. There are five parts to this Transfer Guide that potential UND students should carefully consider. They are: 1. the UND Transfer Policy 2. a Transfer Course Table indicating the transfer status of some courses taken at SFCC 3. an Aviation Course Comparison 4. a collection of UND Program Status Sheets indicating how SFCC courses will correspond to the appropriate UND program requirements, and 5. SFCC and UND aviation related course descriptions
UND TRANSFER POLICY
TRANSFER POLICY ADMISSION Transfer students from Spokane Falls Community College must request that an official transcript of their academic record be sent directly from the Office of Admissions and Records to the Admissions Office of the University of North Dakota. If the transfer student has attended other colleges and universities, official transcripts must also be sent directly from those institutions to the Admissions Office at the University of North Dakota. Students seeking to transfer to UNO, but who have not earned 60 semester hours of credit that transfers to UNO must request that their high school records, verifying graduation, be forwarded to the Admissions Office. Students with fewer than 24 transferable credits must also provide official copies of ACT or SAT scores along with their high school transcripts. Students over the age of 25 are not required to submit ACT or SAT results. An application for admission to UNO will not be considered until all records have been received. A transfer student should indicate his/her intention to declare an aviation major. He/She will initially consult with the Assistant Dean for Student Services within the Center for Aerospace Science for advisement. This Dean will evaluate each transferring student's credits based on the student's chosen major, and then will help each student to register for their first semester at UNO. Faculty advisors within the department will subsequently be assigned, and the transfer student may consult with that advisor after he/she matriculates at UNO. It should be noted that students only have to have a 2.0 Grade Point Average (GPA), on a scale of 4.0, in order to graduate from SFCC and to enroll at UNO. However, the Department of Aviation at UNO has a 2.5 GPA requirement to be admitted into and to graduate from any aviation degree program. A SFCC graduate who has less than the 2.5 GPA will be admitted into the aviation program at UNO under probation, and will have two semesters to bring a lower GPA up to the required 2.5 GPA. Students who have not satisfied the GPA requirement within this time limit are subject to being terminated from the program. APPLICATION Transfer students should request an Application for Admission from the Enrollment Services Office, Box 8135, University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, North Dakota, Prospective students should then complete and return the application with the appropriate application fee. A transfer student should submit the application to UNO upon registering for the final c:juarterat SFCC.

AVIATION COURSE COMPARISON
AVIATION COURSE COMPARISON All credits earned at Spokane Falls Community College will transfer to the University of North Dakota as lower-division credits ( level), even though the comparable UNO course may be an upper-division course ( level), and even though the content and teaching methodology may be the same. SFCC is not allowed, by its charter, to grant upper-division credit. (A minimum of thirty-six (36) upperdivision credits must be earned in order to graduate with a degree from UND. SFCC students transferring to UND should understand that they will have to take enough upper division credits at UND to meet this thirty-six (36) credit requirement). All of the credits earned at SFCC that will transfer to UND will transfer as semester credits. Any credits earned at SFCC over those that could have been earned at UNO can be used as elective credits. Any credits short of those required by UNO will have to be made up with elective credits. Where two SFCC courses are listed as the equivalent of a UNO course, both SFCC courses must have been taken and passed in order to receive UNO credit for either. Below is the course by course comparison of SFCC courses with UNO courses.
