3 Introduction Welcome to the ServiceNow Academic Partner (AP) program. This program guide is designed to explain the goals, benefits, procedures, and details of the AP program. If after reading this guide, you have additional question please contact Who We Are ServiceNow is changing the way people work. With a service- orientation toward the activities, tasks and processes that make up day- to- day work life, we help the modern enterprise operate faster and be more scalable than ever before. Customers use our service model to define, structure and automate the flow of work, removing dependencies on and spreadsheets to transform the delivery and management of services for the enterprise. ServiceNow enables service management for every department in the enterprise including IT, human resources, facilities, field service and more. We deliver a lights- out, light- speed experience through our enterprise cloud built to manage everything as a service. For ServiceNow, its Partners, and Customers, finding technical professionals that are qualified on the ServiceNow platform is an enormous challenge. This is why we have created the Academic Partner (AP) program. The AP program is designed to attract leading educational institutions and non- profit organizations around the world to integrate the ServiceNow curriculum into existing academic curriculum. Equipped with ServiceNow AP program resources, academic institutions can provide their students with knowledge and experience in current cutting- edge technology to help position them as viable candidates entering the workforce. Section I: AP Program AP Program Features The AP program follows a four- stage process called LEAP (Learn, Experience, Achieve, Place). The LEAP process consists of the following: Learn ServiceNow offers authorized content that covers the ServiceNow platform, including System Administration & Platform Essentials (Scripting & Application Development) that fit the academic partner s current curriculum. Both instructors and students receive training on the ServiceNow platform and are provided materials including course participant guides, instances of ServiceNow, and certification test vouchers. To ensure the sustainability of the program, ServiceNow Training certifies the instructors at the academic institutions as part of its Train- the Trainer (TTT) program. 3
4 Experience ServiceNow empowers students to gain hands- on experience by providing each student a personal development instance of the ServiceNow platform including training tools, practical labs and guided exercises. In addition, ServiceNow, along with the academic partner, may work together to organize an application development competition called Hackathon to promote additional student experience and involvement. Achieve ServiceNow endorses the opportunity for both students and instructors to acquire two of its globally recognized certifications: Certified System Administrator (CSA) and Certified Application Developer (CAD). Place ServiceNow in alliance with its academic partners, Solutions Partners, and its Customers will help offer students exposure to possible internships and employment opportunities. Benefits of the AP Program The AP program features a broad spectrum of courses that cover the entire ServiceNow platform. We rely on academic partners that are enthusiastic in their sponsorship to integrate ServiceNow courses within their current curriculum. Involvement in the AP program helps academic institutions and non- profit organizations prepare their student for the challenges and opportunities of a technology- driven world. With an early introduction to technology, students will have a distinct advantage as they advance into the workforce. Higher Education IT leaders can view this as an opportunity to differentiate their existing programs, and offer students exposure for possible internships or employment opportunities. It is our hope to form academic partnerships across the world dedicated to helping students develop into IT professionals and join the ServiceNow community. AP Program Principles The AP program is committed to providing ServiceNow edification in an academic environment that promotes excellence, respect, and responsibility. We believe in the following principles: Learning is a lifelong process Students learn best in a safe and supportive environment Education is a shared responsibility among students, academic institutions, and the ServiceNow Community Through education, our vision is to grow the ServiceNow ecosystem of future IT professionals. Our goals are aimed at the following: 1. Create Partnership. Each potential academic partner is screened and evaluated to ensure the program is the right fit for their school and students. 2. Establish Operational Ownership. If approved to move forward, the AP will sign a joint agreement with ServiceNow that authorizes the candidate to integrate specified ServiceNow content. The AP instructor candidate(s) will pass the ServiceNow Instructor Qualification process. This includes getting certified to teach ServiceNow courses. 7
8 ServiceNow Review Process Upon receipt of the application, the AP Program Manager will base academic partner acceptance on the following criteria: The need for academic partnership in the region. The AP Program team determines the need for academic partnership. This determination is based on a number of parameters, including but not limited to active academic learning partner statistics in that region. The instructor candidate s existing teaching, implementation and product expertise. Whether or not the academic facility meets the requirements for supporting the delivery of ServiceNow Authorized curriculum. The partnerships that the school has with local companies and supporting career placement services. Section 4: Instructor Qualification Process This section details the process for instructor training and becoming a ServiceNow Certified Instructor (CI). To ensure that the ServiceNow AP program can be sustainable, scalable, and flexible at the participating academic institution, it will be mandatory for instructors to be trained and certified on the ServiceNow platform. Instructors will be afforded the same training as the students, but in addition, will be provided instructor guides, access to ServiceNow technical trainers to consult on questions, and possible co- teaching opportunities with ServiceNow trainers. In order to become a CI for the AP program, you must meet the following prerequisite: Review and meet our instructor profile criteria for the course you wish to certify Pass related ServiceNow certification exam(s) You must shadow the most current course from an instructor s perspective. You may shadow multiple classes in order to become acclimated with the content. This step is to observe the way the class is meant to be presented, to see what types of issues arise, and to hear the questions that may be asked. We encourage instructors to co- teach a class with our ServiceNow trainers. Time Expectation The average amount of time between identifying a potential instructor candidate and becoming certified is typically 2-3 months. Section 5: Certification Paths ServiceNow s Certified System Administration (CSA) Passing the ServiceNow System Administrator Certification Exam demonstrates mastery of ServiceNow System Administration and certifies that a candidate has the skills and essential knowledge necessary to manage the 8
9 configuration, implementation and maintenance of the ServiceNow system. To be successful on this exam, attendees should have attended the ServiceNow System Administration class and have at least two to three months of hands- on experience with ServiceNow. ServiceNow s Certified Application Developer (CAD) Passing the ServiceNow Application Developer Certification Exam demonstrates knowledge in being able to create applications by designing application tables, creating and implementing forms, controlling access, and integrating workflows into applications. To be successful on this exam, attendees should be experienced ServiceNow system administrators who have hands- on experience administering and developing on a ServiceNow instance. ServiceNow also offers a Scripting and Application Creation course to help prepare attendees to become successful application developers. Section 6: FAQ s How much do the course materials cost? At this time, the course materials are free of charge. Do I need to request instructor and student instances for courses? The instances for both instructor and students are spun up by the representative of the AP Program and provided to the academic institution to meet dates of need (to start and expire). What are the lead times on course instance provisions? We recommend that you request ServiceNow courseware and instances for a class at least 2 weeks prior to the course. How do I ensure my instructors are working with the correct instructor materials, to help them prepare for each course? ServiceNow has a shared folder for instructors to access the PowerPoint slides and Instructor Guide for each of our courses. There is also a series of webinars from past train- the- trainer updates discussing the course architecture, flow, labs and other useful information to help you prepare to deliver the course. How will we be made aware of updates to course materials and will reassessment and authorization be necessary for each release? The AP team will notify the personnel noted on the application form and all instructors who are current in their certification of new releases and necessary updates to the certification exams as appropriate. We expect that instructors will recertify on a maintenance exam bi- annually. Is there a formal release schedule for course materials? Our materials are primarily mapped to product releases although early stage revisions and modifications to the materials are likely to happen more frequently to classes that are less mature and we feel could continue to be improved based on customer and partner instructor feedback. 9
