5 THE THIRTY- SIXTH BATCH OF MBA STUDENTS 2017 It gives us pleasure to introduce you the 36 th batch of our MBA students who have graduated from the school in Feb These students are groomed in a climate of professional rigor and discipline. Students at the Kathmandu University School of (KUSOM) are motivated to learn under continuous guidance of the faculty who, under the general policy of the school, follow teaching methods that encourage students participation and creativity. They are supported to enhance problem-solving and decision-making abilities while expanding their overall managerial perspective and acumen. Case analysis and discussion, term paper writing, project work, seminars are common methods used by the faculty. The task of preparing individuals capable to pursue career in management begins in the School from the selection of students for admission into its MBA program. Students are selected on the basis of their performance in the admission test, personal interviews and their previous scholastic achievements. The curriculum of the school is designed to impart both conceptual and practical knowledge of management. The courses include foundation courses like Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Information system; Managerial core courses like Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Human resource, Business environment, International business and operations management; courses in the area of concentration like Finance, Marketing, Human resource, project management and MIS; capstone courses like Strategic management, Entrepreneurial management ; and Electives like Total Quality, Knowledge managements, Econometrics, project management, Research Methodology and Customer Relationship management. These courses help the students to acquire and integrate concepts, skills and knowledge necessary to assume responsible managerial positions in organizations. They enhance the depth and breadth of management capabilities of the students. Besides the course works, students are also required to undertake Internship Project in different organizations for an entire length of term (14 weeks) in order to gain practical exposure to the real life situations of organizations. KUSOM pioneered high quality and market responsive Graduate programs (MBA and EMBA) that are widely recognized as a passport to successful professional management career. 7 KUSOM MBA A PIONEERING PROGRAM FOR PROFESSIONAL CAREER IN MANAGEMENT The organizational world is changing like never before. A young person entering organizational life must possess competency and confidence for facing the resulting complexity and the challenge while negotiating and coping with them successfully. If the goal is to build a successful career in management, that is. MBA at Kathmandu University School of is a pioneering program in Nepal that responds to this need with the vision and vigor is unmatched. KUSOM MBA is designed to prepare young individuals for careers as successful managers and entrepreneurs by developing managerial competence and acumen for the changing world. Young aspirants of managerial career pursuing MBA at KUSOM z Acquire state-of-the-art management knowledge and techniques in a practical and application oriented learning environment; z Develop analytical and creative ability to diagnose situations and address them professionally in the context of changing environment; z Apply and integrate management concepts and skills to local situations with global perspectives; z Develop specialization in one functional management discipline ; and z Demonstrate professional values, practices and behaviors in managing organizations. The KUSOM MBA program is an intensive two-year course stretched over six terms of full time study. In the first year students complete three terms, each lasting 14 weeks involving intensive class-room study and practical business projects. In the second year, they complete three terms with an option of doing dual specialization or earning more credits in their area of concentration. They may also choose more electives in the sixth term for broadening their managerial competency base. During the entire length of sixth term students take up an Internship project and complete it while working in the organization. The annual cycle of KUSOM MBA program is as follows: spring term (Feb to May); summer term (Jun to Sep); and fall term (Oct to Jan). Student Profile

8 CURRICULUM The MBA curriculum is designed to enrich both theoretical and practical knowledge in management while helping them to enhance the depth and breadth of their managerial capabilities. It contains the best and the latest in management knowledge and practice to keep students updated with the evolving nature and challenges of management profession. Five structured levels of courses, Foundation, core, Integrative and Elective lead to the MBA degree. A student is required to complete altogether 20 courses totaling 67 credit hours, including a management internship, to get the MBA degree. Students have the option of earning more credit by taking additional courses as extended concentration and/or electives. This gives them opportunity for earning up to 79 credits in total.
