1 Aldworth School WEEKLY S SHEET Issue 237 Friday 23 November 2018 What s on this week Friday 30 November Year 11 Interim Reviews to Parents MESSAGE FROM HEADTEACHER CHILDREN IN NEED 2018 Children in Need Congratulations to all involved in the fundraising with in excess of 1,200 raised. Maria Miller Visit Local MP Maria Miller visited last week. She visits us each year and takes the time to talk to students. She arrived as I was handing out the book of excellence certificates and asked students about their work. She then met with the student council who asked her a number of questions and vice versa. Have a lovely weekend. Mr McCabe CHRISTMAS LUNCH REMINDER AND DEADLINE EXTENDED We have extended the deadline for Christmas lunch forms and payment until Monday 26 November. A copy of the letter and form is attached. Please contact the school if you would like a printed copy of the form, or ask your child to pick one up from the Finance Office. Mrs Turner Charity Club held a number of successful fundraising events on Friday 16 November in aid of Children In Need. For instance, there was a bake sale (raising 120 alone), games and competitions in the hall and a design a bandana for Pudsey colouring competition. In addition to this Mrs Stratton and her tutor group 7N sold pots of slime at lunchtime and the PE Department organised a Staff V Students basketball match. In all, Charity Club raised which is a new Charity Club record for a fundraising event. Many thanks to all those who contributed in any way. Mr Lewis PAYMENT REMINDER - HUMANITIES TRIP TO THE BAY OF NAPLES MAY 2019 If your child is taking part in the Bay of Naples trip in May 2019, a reminder that the third payment is now due. Mrs Henry SCHOLASTIC HALF PRICE BOOK FAIR We are pleased to announce that Aldworth School will be holding a half price book fair from Wednesday 28 November until Monday 3 December. The event will take place in the Library during break times. This is an ideal opportunity for students to be able to purchase books at highly competitive prices. Please see the attached flyers. Christmas Lunch The date of our Christmas lunch will be as follows: All Year Groups - Wednesday 12 December 2018 In order to help the HC3S staff to prepare the amount of meals needed for our Christmas event your child will need to pre-order their meal. If your child would like to order a Christmas lunch please complete and return the attached slip to the Finance Office by Friday 23 November at the very latest. The cost of the Christmas meal is 2.30 and the menu is as follows: or Roast turkey with chipolata sausage and stuffing ball Vegetarian opinion: Roasted vegetable and cranberry wellington with vegetarian sausage Both meals include roast potatoes, peas and baton carrots. This will replace the scheduled hot meal for the day. Dessert will be either: or Crispy Christmas pudding cracknell Christmas biscuit If your child is entitled to a free school meal and would like the Christmas lunch you must still complete and return the attached reply slip indicating that your child is entitled to free school meals together with their menu choice. Payment can be made online, or by cash or cheque (made payable to Hampshire County Council). Please note that students cannot purchase their Christmas meal using their cashless catering account payment must be made as detailed above. There will be a Christmas Meal option within the trips/events area if paying online.
