Remember, you get entered into a drawing for $500 if you refer a family and they enroll and attend school here in the fall! Please remember our policy on sick students returning to school. If your child has had a fever or has vomited, they should not return to school until 24 hours after the last time they had a temperature or got sick. This will help us to prevent spreading sickness through an entire classroom. Your cooperation is very much appreciated. We wish to recognize our eighth grade students and we also like to keep track of this for our records. Sun., January 27 Mon., January 28 9:30 Joyful Noise Sings Mass Celebrate Catholic Schools Out of Uniform St. T Spirit Wear Morning Prayer and Donut/Juice The Catholic Education Foundation is offering two million dollars of tuition assistance to non-edchoice families with students in elementary schools for the school year. Families can apply for up to $1,000 per student, which will be awarded based on need. Deadline to apply is January 31, Apply online at If you are a non-edchoice family and you feel that you will need tuition assistance for next school year, please complete your tuition assistance application on FACTS, using code Deadline is May 1. Registration packets for next school year will be sent home tomorrow! We would appreciate you returning your child s registration by Thursday, February 14 th. Current students always receive priority registration until the due date. After that, new students who register will be added to classes. We will continue to accept current registrations until Wednesday, February 28; however, please note that certain classes will quickly fill to capacity. Therefore, if your registration is not received at the latest by February 28 th you will not be insured a spot for next year. Once classes reach capacity, waiting lists will have to be started. Please be aware that the names on the waiting list will not be guaranteed a spot. 2 Vogel Scholarship Eighth graders who will be attending Elder or Seton High School next year are eligible to apply for a Vogel Scholarship. Applications can be found on the parish and school website and are due to the Parish Office by May 1, Questions, call Maria Glandorf in the Parish Office at ext 101. Parents/Guardians of 7th graders: A postural screening will be done at school to help identify children with curvature of the spine called scoliosis or other possible spinal problems in students. The procedure for screening is a simple one in which a trained examiner inspects the student s posture as he or she stands and bends forward. If a postural problem is suspected, the parent will be notified. If your child is currently under active treatment for a postural problem, or if you object to your child being examined in such a screening, please provide written notice by January 31 st. If you have any questions about the screening, please contact the school clinic at ext. 119 Monday or Friday and ask for Nurse Kim. You can also me at mccafferty_k@stteresa.net. Athletic News Bruin Bash 2019 Athletics will be hosting another Bruin Bash on April 13th 2019! Details on the Bash are forthcoming. Reverse Raffle Ticket sales for a $5,000 prize have begun! An order form is attached. Students will receive various prizes for selling tickets, including a new Apple ipad to the family that is the top overall seller! Raffle money & order forms can be turned in to their teacher as tickets are sold. Teachers have extra order forms or you can print off the one that is attached. The first early bird drawing for $250 is on February 16 th. To be eligible to win the $250, order forms and money need to be turned in by February 15 th. CALLING ALL BRUINS!!! The 2019 St. Teresa Boys Basketball Tournament starts this weekend on Friday evening and runs through February 16th. St. Teresa of Avila Food Drive The students of St. Teresa School are asked to bring in canned, non-perishable and packaged food items to school on Tuesday January 29, The food will be donated to the Holy Family Food Pantry to help the hungry in our own neighborhood. Please be as generous as possible. Let us do as Jesus asked: Help Feed the Hungry

Dear St. Teresa Parents, On Friday, February 1 st, the final day of Catholic Schools Week, we will honor our many volunteers at the All-School Mass at 8:15am. It s because of the efforts of parents and other friends that we are able to carry on our mission to educate and share our faith with our students. If you are a volunteer, whether frequently or infrequently, spending lots of time here, or only able to offer your time occasionally, we wish to honor you and the invaluable contribution of your time. 7 Back by popular demand, the St. Teresa Athletics Association will once again host a $5,000 Reverse Raffle to be awarded at our Bruin Bash held on Saturday April 13th, Participants do not need to be present to win*. Ordering a raffle ticket will automatically enter you into both early bird drawings and the main prize drawings awarded at the Bruin Bash. Purchasing a Raffle ticket will also get you free entrance to the Bruin Bash itself ($10 value). This year instead of letting the adults have all of the fun, we are offering prize incentives to students who sell tickets. All proceeds from the raffle will go towards St. Teresa Athletics. Instructions: Raffle Entries are $50 each or two for $90. See Order form for details. There are two Early Bird Raffle prizes of $250 to be awarded on February 16th and March 21st. If you win an early bird prize you will still be entered into the Main Prize raffle on April 13th. Please have students turn all order forms into their teacher as well as all money collected prior to the February 16th early bird drawing. Your student will receive another order form to continue selling tickets until the final turn in deadline of March 15th. After all ticket forms are received, students will be given raffle ticket stubs to disperse to those who purchased them. The ticket stubs are merely for receipt purposes. Everyone who purchases a ticket will automatically be entered into the drawings and added to the Bruin Bash paid VIP list at the door. We can accept Personal Check, Cash or Credit Card. 10 Covedale Library is offering some special free programs and services for school-aged kids. Homework help at Covedale Library is free, available to kids in grades 1-8, and no appointment is needed. Homework Help is on Monday-Thursday afternoons from 2:45 5:45 pm. Meet Covedale s homework helper, Kylee Stahl: Hello, name is Kylee Stahl. I am 18 years old and a senior at Seton High School, which is located on Glenway Ave. I have played soccer my whole life and also played volleyball and basketball for many years. My favorite subjects in school are English and Reading. I love learning and also enjoy teaching in fun and exciting ways that make learning more fun! Covedale Library is also presenting 3 STEM/STEAM programs in the upcoming months: On Monday, January 28, from 3:30-4:30 pm: STEM Mondays: Cubelets Explore Cubelets--colorful magnetic cubes that form simple robots! Especially for kids in grades 3-6. No registration is required. On Monday, February 25, from 3:30-4:30 pm: STEM Mondays: Ozobots Develop your coding skills with Ozobots!
