2 Program Saturday, April 12 th, 2014 Human Rights Education and Subject Matters in School Human rights education is gaining attention due to an increase in awareness about the contribution it can make to implementing human rights. In order to address the need for a platform allowing for exchange and reflection about human rights education and to foster the practical application of human rights education, the Centre of Human Rights Education (ZMRB) of the University of Teacher Education Lucerne (PH Luzern) organizes the Human Rights Education Sympo sium Lucerne. The 2 nd Human Rights Education Symposium Lucerne 2014 will take place on April 12 th, It will address the topic Human Rights Education and Subject Matters in School. Aiming to ensure a high degree of action orientation and relevance to practice, the program of the Symposium is predominantly built on workshops. The workshops will serve to discuss how human rights education can be embedded into subject matters in school, to share experiences regarding its practical application and to provide space for reflection on key questions. Two types of workshops are foreseen: Exchange Workshops Content Good practices exchange Target Human rights educators and audience lecturers as well as interested individuals of the public administration, various areas of education, NGOs and youth organizations. Training Workshops Content Exploring human rights education in subject matters practical application Target Teachers and students as well audience as interested individuals of the public administration, various areas of education, NGOs and youth organizations. Market Place The market place provides the opportunity for participants to discuss informally and to exchange knowledge about human rights education. 4 Organization Objectives of the 2 nd Human Rights Education Symposium Lucerne 2014 The aim of the Symposium is to contribute to the qualitative improvement of the integration of human rights education into school subject matters by discussing how human rights education can be embedded into individual subject matters. The Symposium also aims to make a concrete and practice-related contribution to the promotion of human rights education.
