WHAT OUR STUDENTS THINK David Leagh gave up a successful career as a Pharmacist to trai as a Chemistry Teacher ad has recetly completed his PGDE. Whe I decided to do my teacher traiig I looked at all of the programmes available ad realised that Liverpool Joh Moores offered just what I wated. Our programmes LJMU is oe of a small umber of uiversities offerig the Postgraduate Diploma i Educatio (PGDE). Like the traditioal Postgraduate Certificate i Educatio (PGCE), the PGDE leads to Qualified Teacher Status, however, it also icorporates 120 credits at masters-level, based o assessmets closely liked to classroom practice. The PGDE ca be completed over the same time frame as a PGCE, for the same cost. LJMU works with School Direct cosortia across Merseyside ad Cheshire to provide Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) i: primary educatio (ages 3-7 ad 5-11) various secodary subjects As a School Direct traiee, you will probably be i school from the first day of the school year through to its ed. You will also atted a short summer school at LJMU ad a series of uiversity-based traiig days throughout the year. School Direct programmes support early career developmet ad iclude a masterslevel postgraduate award, such as the PGCE or PGDE. All LJMU Iitial Teacher Traiig (ITT) programmes are accredited by the Natioal College of Teachig ad Leadership (NCTL) ad lead to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
