1 Our theme for this year is empowerme, with a focus on empowering students through arts education. Programs are offered at Jewett Auditorium, at your school site, or in individual classrooms. We will also offer one spring break workshop, and one Saturday masterclass for students. All programs align with Idaho Arts Standards. For many programs, we offer Curriculum Guides for pre-teaching and follow-up for your school. Thanks to contributions, grants, sponsorships, and fundraising, education programs are highly subsidized. As a partner with The College of Idaho, campus tours or meetings with music, theatre, or art faculty may be available when you come on campus for a program with older students. Ask about availability. Beginner and advanced classes are offered for students from all genres of dance. Dancers with experience in other genres should register for the beginner class. This is a favorite that fills up fast, so make your reservation early. The performance on December 6 is exclusively for schools. The December 7 performance is a shared school/community program. Gary Schmidt, Newberry-winning author Thursday & Friday, March 8 & 9, 2018 At your School 50-minute assembly $300 whole school assembly or writing workshop Ages: Upper elementary-high School Gary Schmidt s assembly will focus on themes from his book, Okay for Now, a coming-of-age story about loss, bravery, and the power of the arts. Schools booking this assembly are requested to read the book in class, or have it available for students. Writing workshops are also available for upper-level English classes. This is a great opportunity to learn from a renowned Newberry winner! Library programs and Meet the Author events are also planned during Dr. Schmidt s visit to the Treasure Valley. 6 Catapult Entertainment Tuesday, March 27, :00 pm - 2:00 pm Spring Break Workshop 50-minute program $10 per student Ages: Middle School and High School students Take advantage of this chance to learn from one of the America s Got Talent top competitors! Catapult Shadow Theater will guide groups of participants through a series of games, challenges and dance/theater assignments. The concept of creative brainstorming and strategies for creative collaboration and the art of shadow -making will be introduced, and participants will create a mini-opus complete with music. Registration for this class is online at caldwellfinearts.org under Events Ultimi Tenors Friday, May 4, 2018 Your School Ages: High School Choirs 3 Masterclasses available $100 Ultimi (Italian for latest ) combines the impressive vocal and instrumental talents of Isaac Hurtado, Tyler Nelson, and Brian Stucki. Joining forces in 2014, these three tenors have separately performed well over 100 operatic tenor roles and sung in numerous concerts across the US and abroad to critical acclaim. Schools who select this Masterclass will learn a piece of music beforehand, and will be invited to perform with Ultimi at the evening concert.

7 Ballet Folklorico Mexico Lindo May 1 5, 2018 Flexible Times Your School Classroom or Auditorium All ages Cinco de Mayo will be a celebration at your school with this presentation of traditional dance, taught by our own Monique Michel-Duarte. She will teach several styles of traditional Mexican folkdance in an interactive class. Lecture/Demonstration: 50 minutes. Dancing demonstration, audience participation, and Q&A session. $50 per classroom or grade level Dance performance: 50 minutes. Several dancers will showcase beautiful Mexican dance traditions. $200 school assembly Refuge Artists dates throughout the school year Individual Classrooms or grade levels 50-minute program $50 per Assembly Ages: All Ages empowerme Refuge visits Caldwell Fine Arts will accompany a local refugee artist to your school. They will share their story with your students and tell them about the country they came from and how they came to Idaho. The guest will then demonstrate drumming, dancing, or visual art from their country. Students will have the chance to participate and create their own visual art, try a drum sequence, or learn a dance step. The experience will end with a Q & A session with the guest. We hope these visits will allow children to better understand the refugee situation around the world, appreciate different cultures, and experience arts from diverse cultures.

8 Sylvia Hunt, Piano/Organ Animal Crackers or Space Music Sept May 2018 Flexible Times Your classroom or auditorium 50 minute program $50 per classroom, up to 100 students All ages Join Sylvia Hunt for a musical adventure! This program introduces students to Classical music with listening activities on topics children love. You can choose Animal Crackers, based on Carnival of the Animals by Saint-Saëns, or Space Music with out-ofthis-world fun. Must have a piano in your classroom Pipe organ demos in Jewett Auditorium are also available. Gary Eller, Songs of idaho February May, 2018 Flexible Times Your school auditorium Songs of Idaho Concert (50 minute program with songs and storytelling). Master songwriter and storyteller Gary Eller is best known for his songs about Idaho History. He ll treat your school to true stories from Idaho History, along with his own compositions chronicling the events. All ages, perfect for groups of 4th graders $100 for all 4th grades or full school assembly Songwriting Workshops: This mini-residency will culminate in a performance or recordings of songs written by your class. In 4 sessions, Gary Eller covers what makes a good song, techniques of songwriting, rough draft and revisions, and recording and/or performance. Upper Elementary - High School $300 Songwriting residency (4 Sessions)

9 Education FAQ s How do I make a reservation? You re welcome to make a reservation online at Click on the link under the Education section that says, Online Education Request Form. Fill it out and submit...done! One Education Request form is needed per program that you re interested in. For example, if you d like to bring in your students to see The Nutcracker, fill out the request form and submit. The Education Director will receive it, and a confirmation will be sent. Priority will be given to the first forms received. How many people can I bring? You re welcome to bring as many students as you d like to programs in Jewett, based on availability. Some in-school programs are better suited for individual classrooms, and others are appropriate for whole-school assemblies. Can parents and teachers come? Up to five (5) chaperones per class can attend any program in Jewett. These chaperones (parents, teachers, aides, or administrators) are charged the same rate as the students. If there are extra seats available, more chaperones may attend at the same rate. How do we pay? Two weeks before each program, you ll receive an invoice. Please pay before the performance or at the door. The invoice will include a final seat count for you to confirm. After you confirm, you will be billed for this number of seats regardless of how many students attend. We can t afford buses. Do you have assistance? We frequently offer bus grants to pay a portion of busing costs. These funds are based on grant monies CFA receives. Inquire if a bus grant is available when you book your program. If grants are available, CFA will pay up to $50 per bus, usually about half. What is your cancellation policy? If your school is cancelled on the day of a performance, your program fees will be refunded. If Caldwell Fine Arts cancels a program at our discretion, fees will be refunded. If you need to cancel for any other reason, please transfer your reservation to other students. Where is Jewett Auditorium located? Jewett is on The College of Idaho campus at 2112 Cleveland Blvd in Caldwell. The auditorium can be accessed at 20th and Fillmore. Driving and bus parking directions are sent with your confirmation.
