This means that you will complete your knowledge and initial skills development through online learning. What is online learning? OpenSpace is Open Colleges online campus. We understand that you may already have many skills and areas of expertise that you have obtained in different ways and these are recognised through our Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process. Open Colleges has developed an RPL application kit for this course. The Student Handbook, available on the Open Colleges website, provides more information about our RPL process. Alternatively, you can contact an education advisor to discuss your RPL options. What is the duration of the course? The maximum duration for the course is 18 months. To complete the course in this timeframe, we recommend that you study a minimum of 17 hours per week. This is a guide only the time taken to complete your course will depend on your level of skill and knowledge. What will I learn? You will learn how to monitor a safe workplace and implement an operational plan. This certificate will teach you how to promote team effectiveness and how to show strong leadership in the workplace. Providing more comprehensive skills, this course will show you how to establish networks with stakeholders and staff. When you have completed this course you will be able to implement a workplace information system and know how to promote innovation within a team environment.
5 BSB42015 Certificate IV in Leadership and Management Proficiencies in managing projects and developing work priorities will be taught as well as skills for planning and completing your own work on time and on schedule. What are the admission requirements for the course? Minimum age requirements You will need to be at least 18 years old. Education requirements While there are no formal education entry requirements, Open Colleges suggests you should have completed schooling to Year 10 and a minimum of one year of vocational experience, or a nationally recognised qualification at the Certificate II level or higher, or at least two years of relevant vocational experience. English language requirements This course requires learners to read online learner modules, undertake a range of task-driven assessments and engage in online discussions. Consequently, learners need to have an effective command of written and spoken English. As a guide we recommend that learners currently or have previously: > Been employed in a workplace for at least one year, where they predominantly use English language in verbal and written communications and/or; > Have successfully completed one year of study taught predominately in English language and/ or; > Have achieved an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) examination score of 5.5 during the past three years and/or; > Have achieved an overall pass score on our free Open Colleges Language, Literacy and Numeracy tool available on our website for a Diploma. Computing requirements You will need access to a computer and the internet and you must have basic computing skills. Minimum specifications for your computer are: > Microsoft Office 2013 or equivalent > broadband internet connection > 2GB of RAM > Adobe Reader XI or equivalent > Adobe Flash Player 10 or higher. Specific requirements for Windows users: > Microsoft Windows XP or higher (Windows 7 or higher is recommended) > 2 gigahertz (GHz) or faster processor Specific requirements for Mac OS users: > Mac OS X v or higher > 2 gigahertz (GHz) or faster Intel processor. Audio-visual requirements You will need access to software to view online videos and images. Software such as Adobe Reader, Windows Media Player, Windows Photo Viewer etc. are available as free downloads from the internet. You will also need access to a digital video recording device and associated software to save and upload video, audio and image files to OpenSpace. Many mobile phones and smartphones include this technology. What support services are available? During your studies with Open Colleges, you will have access to a comprehensive range of support services. These include: Academic support Your experienced trainers are available in OpenSpace to answer any questions you may have regarding the learning materials or assessments. Your trainers can also provide you with advice and support regarding the overall course.
