This means that you will complete your knowledge and initial skills development through online learning. What is online learning? OpenSpace is Open Colleges online campus. What is the duration of the course? The maximum duration for the course is 18 months. To complete the course in this timeframe, we recommend that you study a minimum of 16.5 hours per week. This is a guide only the time taken to complete your course will depend on your level of skill and knowledge. What will I learn? This course will equip you with a solid grounding of information to begin or proceed in your business career. You will learn how to prepare and develop spreadsheets and how to develop an automated or linked spreadsheet solution for a variety of applications. You will gain skills in identifying and sourcing information needs and how to collect, analyse and report information. As well as this, competencies in investigating current practices in relation to resource usage are highlighted on the curriculum.
5 BSB40515 Certificate IV in Business Administration What are the admission requirements for the course? Minimum age requirements You will need to be at least 18 years old. English language requirements This course requires learners to read online learner modules, undertake a range of task-driven assessments and engage in online discussions. Consequently, learners need to have an effective command of written and spoken English. As a guide we recommend that learners currently or have previously: > Been employed in a workplace for at least one year, where they predominantly use English language in verbal and written communications and/or; > Have successfully completed one year of study taught predominately in English language and/ or; > Have achieved an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) examination score of 5.5 during the past three years and/or; > Have achieved an overall pass score on our free Open Colleges Language, Literacy and Numeracy tool available on our website for a Certificate IV. Computing requirements You will need access to a computer and the internet and you must have basic computing skills. Minimum specifications for your computer are: > Microsoft Office 2010 or equivalent > broadband internet connection > 2GB of RAM > CD-ROM or DVD drive > Adobe Reader XI or equivalent > access to a printer and scanner > Adobe Flash Player 10 or higher. Specific requirements for Windows users: > Microsoft Windows XP or higher (Windows 7 or higher is recommended) > 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster processor (2GHz or faster recommended) Specific requirements for Mac OS users: > Mac OS X v or later (Mac OS X v 10.6 or higher is recommended) > 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster Intel processor (2GHz or faster recommended) Audio-visual requirements You will need access to software to view online videos and images. Software such as Adobe Reader, Windows Media Player, Windows Photo Viewer etc. are available as free downloads from the internet. You will also need access to a video recording device and/or digital camera and associated software to save and upload video and image files to OpenSpace. Many mobile phones and smartphones include this technology. Some assessments will require you to record audio or a video. In some of these assessments, you might need to have friends or family participate in the recording. The requirements for these audio and video recordings vary. If the assessment specifies that you need to conduct the recording in a workplace, you have the option of engaging with friends or family to record these through other means, such as Skype. What support services are available? During your studies with Open Colleges, you will have access to a comprehensive range of support services. These include: Academic support Your experienced trainers are available in OpenSpace to answer any questions you may have regarding the learning materials or assessments. Your trainers can also provide you with advice and support regarding the overall course.
