1 Week Topic YEAR 6- Computer Science Term 1 plan Learning outcomes Week 1 Week 2 Week 3 Week 4 Introduction to ICT & Computer Science Digital pledge How to cite a site Perfect picture Pupils to understand rules & regulations of ICT department. Pupils will understand file management. Pupils informed of what will be taught over first term. Pupils will establish group norms to create a positive online community that promotes responsible and respectful digital behaviour within their classroom. Pupils collaborate in creating a digital citizenship pledge outlining their collective social norms for exploring in and interacting with the digital world. Students reflect on the importance of citing all sources when they do research. They then learn how to write citations for two different types of online sources in Modern Language Association (MLA) style, and practice doing so. Pupils consider how digitally manipulated photos can affect the way people feel about their appearance, as well as help sell products. After learning that photos can be transformed on the computer, pupil first discuss how photo alteration can be both creative and, at times, deceptive. They then watch a short video that shows the evolution of a makeup-free model into a digitally enhanced billboard ad. Finally, students work in groups to analyse the messages on two magazine covers featuring digitally altered photographs.

2 Week 5 Strong Passwords Pupils learn how to create secure passwords in order to protect their private information and accounts online. Students learn tips for creating safe passwords. They explore scenarios in which two characters choose passwords, and they use the tips they have learned to create secure new ones for those characters. They then create posters to communicate password tips to their families and other students. Week 6 PowerPoint Presentation (About me) Pupils will learn about slide consistency Pupils will learn about what images are acceptable and appropriate for presentation. Pupils will layout slides with titles.. Week 7-11 PowerPoint Presentation (About me) Pupils to make plan for slide setup. Pupils will add text to support title & images. Pupils to add text to inform people about themselves. Last week Exam Written exam on all aspects taught.

We will be learning how to create a blinking app using a forever loop as well as simple commands, such as plot image, pause, and clear screen. Week 2 Word Processing To open and select a new blank document, to be able to copy a piece of work and save to a specific folder location. Week 3 Word Processing To format a piece of work using line spacing, paragraph, spell check functions. Week 4 Word Processing To be able to set out page layout, margins selecting different size fonts, select different styles of font. Alignment and bullet points. Week 5 Word Processing Pupils will be given task to complete to show skills learnt.

7 Week 6 Database Pupils will be introduced to Microsoft Access (database). Pupils will understand what database is and used for. Pupils will open table and will be shown field types. Pupils will add titles and add basic data validation. Week 7 Week 8-11 Database Database Pupils create a table in Access and given suitable name tbl_name. Pupils will create field names. Pupils will select Data types for each field.. Pupils will add information into all fields
